Not much of a fantasy fan, but I really like the series - which must mean they're doing something right. Never read the books though.

Still, Dexter and Six Feet Under are probably my two absolute favorites.

The first two seasons of GoT is available on Netflix, so you can catch up if you haven't seen the show yet. It'll be difficult to follow all the convoluted plots and sub-plots without starting at the beginning. I share Kalle's distaste for continuing stories, which is why I always watch them on DVD a year later.

Some other episodic TV shows that I didn't watch week-to-week but enjoyed immensely on disk or streaming:
Dexter
The Walking Dead
True Blood
Lost Girl
Continuum
Heroes
The Sopranos
Hell on Wheels
The Dollhouse
Burn Notice
Life on Mars (the UK version!)
Once Upon a Time

Although I almost missed none of the Sopranos from season two on, recently The Lovely Lady and I watched the entire series on DVD over a period of several weeks (nearly DVD in each sitting).

Tons of fun that series.

We did the  Wire over the course of 6 months.  Best serial evah.  It is amazing what they did w/ a pretty standard set up - good cop w/ a drinking problem, bad cops, bad criminals, good criminals ....  The last 5 minutes of a 5 year show ties it up nicely, tho it don't mean a thing unless you've watched the whole series.

I used to have a big crush on Diana Rigg.

That was in the days before older women looked like older women though.

Julie Christie for me ... and I wrote a screenplay for her!

I don't have a TV and do not watch a lot of TV fare, though there are always a few things that I love to watch ... I miss Black Adder ... I had fun with Red Dwarf feeling like I was drunk in a time warped party! ... I enjoyed Footballer's Wives and its sister show Mile High ... I like the Rumpole series ... I absolutely loved Ian Richardson in the original "House of Cards" ... I enjoyed that Laird show ... forgot its name, the one where the puppy got the old man cooked ... I enjoyed Prime Suspect and above all that one show that had the psychiatrist in Robbie Coltrane where he was bedding all the women ... (anyone know the name of that show???) ... but BBC America is really stupid and is not sharing things on the internet as much as they should ... and that makes it harder to appreciate.

Ohh I forgot ... Top Gear ... and if you have never seen it, do not ask what a condom is good for in the Amazon! Or what it can do for a car!

Being a Peter Brook disciple (so to speak -- all you musicians hate me for it!!!), I found a long time ago a small video of his "Midsummer Night's Wet Dream" with her, Warner and others ... and I have to tell you ... that was nifty and neat and crazy all at the same time, and she made a heck of a nice show in her TV thing ... though I always thought that in America it suffered from the Man from Uncle thing and then the Saint thing ... but, acting wise, her and her cohort were dancing around the lines all over the place ... something that Americans, with their visual tv thing and slapstick style of living room comedy, could not ever appreciate a whole lot!

The only other woman that was "sexy" for me in tv, was the lady ... Agent 99? ... can't even remember it! ... written by Mel Brooks for the most part!

Season 4 of The Wire is perhaps the greatest thing ever on television.

James,

was it 4 or 5 seasons total?  Since we watched it over a period of months - I can't remember.  Just that it was great.
