was it 4 or 5 seasons total?  Since we watched it over a period of months - I can't remember.  Just that it was great.

There were 5 seasons. Season 4 stands out for me as they took a totally new tack and made those 4 kids the stars of that year, exploring the effects of the educational system and its impacts on society. Heartbreaking stuff.

GOT, Best show on TV right now. I haven't read the books. I can't wait to see the dragons in full action.

If we do see them in action (spoiler alert!!!) then it will be largely a deviation from what's been in the books through vol. 5.  No doubt they will play a major role before it's all over, but so far not so much.
 
Any predictions about where this all is going in the end?  My bet is that John Snow and Daenerys (the dragon chick) end up together.  Another bet is that Arya ends up as a far more important player in the final action than she has been so far.
