Yep... the new air conditioner is installed and working.... wooo hooo!!!

The new unit is a much more efficient model. 

Oh yeah.... some of you were following this issue when it first happened....  so the story got better.... 

A few days later....

I was getting ready to go to work and loaded the dishwasher, pressed start and headed up stairs to grab the things I needed from my office  before heading to work.  I came back down and as I entered the kitchen... the acrid smell of a burned electrical something or other hit my nose. The dishwasher was off..... no lights. It runs very quiet so the best way to determine if it's running is the lights on the front.

Then, I noticed the smoke smudge on the counter lip at the dishwasher. The door was unusually warm. Hummm... better shut off the power to this thing.... ya reckon?   

So I started taking the door apart and the smell was definitely coming from the inside of the door.  

This is what I found inside the door




and this... several of the connectors were burned completely off the board and sustained damage. 




Based on the age of the DW and the cost to repair it with new circuit boards, we opted to scrap it and get a new one with a warrantee.  The new one was in and working by 8pm. Complete with new hoses too. 

needless to say, we now have a new dishwasher as well as a new air conditioner ..... what's gonna blow up next?

 With the kind of luck you're having, you might want to move the DAW out of the house.

Our 2 year old dishwasher died a couple days after the warranty did.

The controller board burnt out.

We learned that almost all of them from that brand name and price range have done the same thing.

No one seems to care.

We haven't replaced it yet because we haven't found anything worth taking the time to buy.

There seem to  be a lots of ways to do the same things,even dishes....

Holy crap Herb!  Good thing it was "only" the dishwasher that had to be replaced.  That looks like it could have started a nasty fire.  Never seen anything torch itself that badly!

Yeah... it certainly lit itself up...


OK so this has to stop soon.... 

TODAY.... I go off to work (maybe I just need to stop going to work?)....and I come home around 11:30am.... yeah, I had to work a whole 2 hrs.... tough job but someone has to do it....

So anyway, I drop off the mail on the kitchen counter and head to the bathroom. It seems a bit warm in the bathroom. I glance up at the thermostat for the electric floor heat and it's saying the floor is 97 degrees.... WHAT?  I know it's set to a high of 86 and at this time of the day it should be 70.  

I go and shut off the breaker and the floor one hour later has cooled considerably. Seems the relay in it is shot and decided to quit in the "ON" position. So I just ordered a new T-stat.... of course it is a special kind of gizmo and ... well I found one on Amazon for about 25% off the normal cost. 

So I will have to suffer through a few cold floor mornings...... but at least it's not January.... that tile sure would be cold without that floor heat running. 

Yikes!  Maybe it's time to revisit events you may have done in your past that you shouldn't have?

Did you, by any chance, do one of the following?

-  Laugh at a voodoo witch doctor?
-  Move some graves when you dug a new pool?
-  Steal some gold from a leprechaun?
-  Use a sacred Mayan idol as a paper weight?
-  Post thoughtful and meaningful content in the Coffee House?

Just curious, 'cause any of those could initiate the retribution you seem to be seeing!
