Congrats FBB.

Weighing in at nine hours ? That's beyond comprehensive and nearly exhaustive :)

Good luck with it, I may get it myself once a few reviews are in.

:-)

Was it the first, or second time, you worked with a live drum kit?

:-)

It seems like only yesterday that you were watching groove 3 videos and asking how to do it.

:-)

Did you cover time aligning the snare and kick with the OH?

Good on you... I hope you make gobs and gobs of money!

best regards,
mike

Yeah nine hours was a bit of a shock..... "Insanely detailed" was one description I've heard used which was meant as a compliment I think. What can I say, I like the sound of my own voice.

I obviously hope it goes down well but I certainly know that I gave it my all, so I'm happy with it regardless. I'd hate to have done a half hearted job thinking I could have done that better, or this better. It is what it is and hopefully others will like it and find it useful.

Thank you very kind. I'm hoping I'll earn enough to get a trackday from it. I missed most of this summer's track action.... stuck in a studio preparing scripts for videos. Although I was out on track yesterday and aching like hell today, I think I'm getting old....

Just to be clear, this video isn't a "techniques" or "how to mic live drums" video. The live drums were used to demonstrate audiosnap and there's no reference to how they were recorded.

It's a video on how to set up use, and get the best out of Sonar. I've been doing that everyday since version 2.

Double post. Perhaps someone could make a tutorial on using the forum software.....

FWIW, I have some idea how much work it is to produce video. It sounds like you did a massive amount of work.

I'll bet it's a whole lot better than the official Cakewalks AudioSnap videos where they teach us how to take a kick drum track and use Audio Snap to make a kick drum sample for Session Drummer.

Good on you!!!

Yes it was a bit of a shock once I got going and realised how much work there was involved. Obviously my youtube stuff is pretty much fire up program, talk and work with little or no planning involved and certainly no structre. This was a whole different ball game.

I just put into video the way I've fathomed out/learned how to use it through a lot of trial and error and help from these forums. (Which is pretty much the way the whole video is) The preperation of tracks prior to using Audiosnap is very important in my experience, especially on live takes with studio chit chat at the front etc. and to avoid the dreaded "Tempo out of range" message

I think I covered most of it, clip preperation, clip map editing, extracting and applying tempos, quantising, adjusting timing while maintaining phase relationships (using both methods), drum replacement. etc.
Good on you!!!

best,
mike

Thank you
