Yea, but you only get 144 notes to play.

I really don't get Twitter... I have an account but I am not sure why. I go on there maybe once a month when I remember it is there. Famous people 'tweet' and all their little followers, well... follow them I guess but for the regular guy or gal... really who cares? Who cares where I am eating lunch or about anything else really? Facebook is about as bad. My daughter seems to think that other people care where she is and what she is doing. I really don't get the whole 'social media' thing. Maybe Andy Warhol was wrong when he said, "In the future everybody will be world famous for fifteen minutes." Perhaps the future is now and everyone is world famous all the time.
I guess that makes about as much sense as anything. Maybe this old world is a few decades past its expiration date, I don't know...

For most indie bands/artist(s) they probably don't have much going on, so the trick is to keep a slow and steady pace, one tweet a week or once a month at least will do.

So anyway, if you haven't got anything happening for the month? Tweet some music news. Besides, nobody want's to get flooded with dozens of tweets a day unless those tweets are important events such as; new song/album releases, upcoming shows, news press releases.

And also it's good to focus on not just one-self, maybe post a tweet about a friend's new album release or news press. And if you find other bands interesting simply follow then and tweet once in a while, then maybe others who follow them might start following you.

Wish you all the very best!

Its so much more than just for famous people and fans. Its a live and direct connection to what the world is thinking and talking about. A live journal of your day to day tasks, a communication device for when the internet is out or taken over and a social network. I talk to family thousands of miles away like its nothing and jumping into a conversation from a simple tweet about nothing. Not to mention, I'm pretty sure Twitter played a big role in me being approached by IK to work for them. Its a whole lot more than just famous people and fans.

Agree!

Yes, an interaction with real people, just that I haven't really felt anyone though... no jab in the rib, poke in the eye, smooching and oh yeah baby if ya' know what I mean.

IMO I rather not mix work with home (family/friends) and thereby prefer to have two separate accounts. Much like that with FB and other similar social sites.  But mostly, I'm really not into daily online social networking. My wife and I prefer a nice quiet time at home together with the occasional get together with family and friends.

Just as it's long as it's expressible in 130 characters or less.

I have to admit I prefer Facebook, especially for getting updates from companies I'm interested in etc. There's a lot more flexibility and they can communicate a lot more info.

True, I also think that the limit on character helps get the message across more clearly. The whole "if you can say it in less words why don't you" mantra.
