Paul - having lived there for a while, I'm sure there are certain parts of Montreal where you may not feel as comfortable walking alone at night. Like in every big city.
lol - a simple Goolging of "Montreal murder" is enough to confirm that.

What happened is an act of terrorism, either foreign or domestic, and the facts are yet to be obtained.. so i will state that so far, gun laws are irrelevant (nobody shot anyone, and nobody shot the bomber) and crime statistics are also irrelevant as they simply do not apply.

So, although my personal views are that there are many many things wrong with the gun laws, societal structure and international image of the USA, whether or not these issues form any type of motive for the bomber is yet to be determined and hence speculative emotional rantings from all perspectives is not only misplaced, it is inappropriate.

So...can we PLEASE all calm down and discuss the matter nicely...

Papua New Guinea is a good example actually. What happened there iover the last few weeks was exceptionally horrific. I wonder how many Americans are even aware of what happened.

To insinuate that only a few of us, give a damn about the world, and what happens in other countries is a complete disconnect from reality; and horribly steeped in a lack of truth.

How many Americans have died fighting in WWI, WWII, The Korean War, Vietnam, and Iraq, Afganistan, Somalia, Lebanon, Panama, other Islands of the Pacific, and other parts of Africa and the Middle East, as well as Europe, North, Central and South America?  How many Americans have traveled all over the world as Doctors, Nurses, and volunteers set on rebuilding disaster areas; related to war, or man made, or natural disasters?  How many Americans have given pennies, dollars, thousands of dollars, and millions of dollars of aid and support all over the world?

Are there people in America who have not traveled the world? Yes.  Are there uneducated people in the USA?  Yes.  Are there people in the USA who can not do math, do not keep up with current events, and haven't the faintest clue where Papua New Guinea is on a map?  Yes.  Is this not also true for every other country on Earth?  Can you not find the same types of folk everywhere?

America is a very kind, very brave, very compassionate, and caring society; it is only false propaganda, that convinces the worlds population to feel and think the contrary.

Peace.

I couldn't of said it better. I really wonder what the world would be like today if there were never an America. I just don't get it when there are despicable dictators in the world killing their own citizens and America is always the bad guy. It breaks my heart to know people are living in fear like that. It's clear slavery still goes on in other countries but no one calls it that. What a world what a world...

I think you would really enjoy Andrew Roberts' " A History of the English-Speaking Peoples Since 1900." It's a breath of fresh air from all of the usual America/UK bashing that's painfully fashionable across the world.
