  • Its odd that nobody seems to be using 2caudio stuff, when Galbanum did the Architecture... (p.2)

I talked to Andy about that very subject... His response was.....we don't wan't to SELL the MOST... We want to be the BEST!! That's a pretty good philosphy...

Good philosophy but a bit pointless if no one can afford to buy your products!

And anyway, why not sell "the most" - I can't see how selling one or one hundred thousand makes much difference to him - it's only one amount of developing no matter how many he sells, is it not??
OK perhaps a bit more support, but if you only want to be the best, perhaps that should not even be a consideration as your product should not need too much support!!!!

It is a shame - if Breeze and the new product where sensibly priced I for one may consider a purchase as Aether is so good - but I won't even download and try them at the moment- they are too expensive so what's the point

Right now they are all $50 dollars off....so B2 is $199 and Aether is $199 and Breeze is $99...

and if you already own a 2C Product you get another $50 off....

So...they are down to reasonable prices...

When you consider the TSAR-1 is $249 (+Ilok)  and Breverb about the same...and Altiverb and Lexicon PCM are twice that...

I'd say it's not that bad...

All things considered...

Valhalla is good and going to sell a million besides at $50....so that's a win for him and a win for us...
As I said...bang for buck....without a discount....Valhalla wins...

Any single plug-in which exceeds the psychological limit of $100-ish really has to be truly unique for me to consider it.

I wouldn't spend $200 on a reverb w/ Valhalla available for $50, Waves plug-ins on perpetual sale and my stock convolution reverb (which imho is the most amazing convolution reverb out there ;).

Another company we don't hear much about around here is 112db, which make some darn fine plug-ins (and relatively affordable, at that.) Free 60 days demos available. Check them out if you haven't.

Which reminds me that I have to try their reverb... :)

EDIT - I don't know why I "remembered" 112 db's plug-ins were a bit less expensive - they're pretty much all in the $150 range.

I'm a big fan of the Aether reverb.  I doubt that I would have purchased it though if it had not been available at half-price via a group buy.  This took place in 2009, but I am not aware that any subsequent group buys have been organised.

Hi... To clarify slightly: I said and do still say:

We are NOT interested in trying to be the cheapest or the lightest on the CPU at the expense of sacrificing audio quality. The "bargain-basement" $0.99-app sector of the industry is already crowded enough and we have no interest in participating in it. No offense to anyone else, but if other developers think their products are only worth $50, who am I to argue with them? We simply have no interest in racing to the bottom of the market.

We are interested in achieving the ultimate sound-quality and finding engineering solutions to make this viable for as many people as possible. We make premium products that are used on the largest projects in our industry, and we charge VERY reasonable prices for the level of quality that we deliver. We are nowhere near the top of the market in terms of pricing, and IMHO our prices represent an incredible value for the level of quality we deliver. We are able to do this b/c we are small team of passionate people who fulfill the all the roles usually handled by a much larger organization with much higher operating costs.

We are interested in developing system-level tools that have been made with countless hours of blood, sweat, and tears and only reach release status once obsessive levels of creative and technical excellence has been achieved. This requires tremendous work and sacrifice.

We are interested in developing personal relationships with customers who become both long term friends and well as clients. We enjoy helping educate passionate new users and novices who want to start by accepting nothing but the best. We are humbled to be able to co-create with VIP industry veterans and help them with the needs of projects that reach hundreds of millions of people.

We value independent thought and creativity. We are not inspired by emulation. We are inspired by new ideas, or application and expansion of old/universal ideas using new technologies.

Joining our family may require a small premium compared to "bargain-basement"options, but we feel the premium is more than justified and are happy to have the support of many others who fully agree. We do what we can to make our work as accessible to everyone as possible, as evidenced by the various cross-grade offers and promotions we occasionally have. And rest assured once you are in our family, we always take care of you. You are our most valuable asset.

Having said all of that, of course ideally we would love to sell "the most". We DO want that. We simply won't compromise our values to get there... That is what makes us who we are. I think in the long run you will come to appreciate it.

Thanks for listening and thanks for the various compliments above.

Thanks for chiming in Andy...

I have to say....I LOVE 2C Audio products!

You reverbs, to me, DO stand apart.  They are very "alive" to me.

Yes there a WHOLE LOT of great reverbs out there...

But there is just something "special" about yours...

Thanks Again for making such a GREAT product!

"Bargain-basement" - that term comes from retailers' practice of sending products that didn't move down into the basement and marking them down until they sell. It's a way to clean out deadwood inventory that nobody wants unless it's deeply discounted, even if it means going below cost.

In the audio plugin world, the equivalent would be audiomidi "no-brainers" where you can pick up effects and instruments for $20 that nobody would otherwise buy. And even at $20, buyers often wonder later what the heck they were thinking when they bought it.

Now, does anybody really think ValhallaRoom falls into this category?

cclarry,
How did you get it for $49 and can I get it for that? Because I would.
