Hi there

Do any of you folks use the Superior Drummer 2.0  Producer Presets?

Just wondering if anyone finds them useful, or whether they prefer to process the sounds themselves?

I made a couple of personal presets that I gravitate to most of the time, but they eat up more RAM, so I don't always start with those if I'm just needing a beat.

I find the producer presets are good, but seem extracted from another song and then don't fit as well in the "next" song, if that makes sense.

I prefer to deal w/ only one mixer, so I usually avoid doing anything in SD's own mixer - just route everything to my DAW's own mixer and mix from there.

I also feel that the drums in SD are already sculpted/pre-produced as much as I like them to be - what's left to be tweaked depends on the song and the arrangement, so I prefer to do that myself.

I found them to be a bit educational.  Some settings are a bit shocking because they don't conform to the Cakewalk Forum standard of ways to do things.

I have a few of the presets. They are great for learning the process of how to get a particular kit sound. After you have learned what does what, you can better understand how to get your own personal kit sounds. Some of the presets can be very deep and confusing but they are worth the small price just from the educational aspect, as Mod Bod advised!

I have a few of them (the producer ones) but have found that they never quite "fit" for my tunes.  I just do it myself now.

Thanks for that guys. That was good info and advice.

I may select a couple at random and examine them. They are fairly cheap after all.

Cheers

The Steve Slate presets makes it sound like Steve Slate drums. I think that's well worth it. It uses the Superior FX on each part, which means it's going to use more juice. Mind you, that's the general idea otherwise the drums would sound raw anyway. Snappy drums for a few euros.

FYI audiodeluxe.com now carries these along with other toontrack ezmix presets, etc. for a discounted price.
