Although there are some good members, there are a lot of people on the EastWest forum dedicated to making the product (particularly Hollywood Strings) look good instead of answering questions honestly.  That is a real shame.  Those of you who know me on this forum know I do not bash products.

No you don't. You voice your opinion, relate your experience you have using a product but you don't bash it.

I'm sure you're sharing this with us for a reason. Care to elaborate?

Hey, samhayman (aka samhandyman).  The documentation and videos don't really match the current list of samples and it is very difficult to understand what patch you need, what controls the various parameters, etc.  Velocity, controllers, and playing speed have radically different effects on different patches (or sometimes no effect at all) and the patch names don't make this clear.  The manual and videos don't list the patches in any kind of chart with the various controls.  A simple matter like selecting a legato patch can be a matter of long trial and error, and that is bad since it takes several minutes for each patch to load.

In addition, I have major issues with notes dropping out (similar to an old synth with voice-stealing or polyphony issues) even though I have a pretty powerful system and am following all the guideliness to optimize.

When I reach out for help on the forum, some of the users are really good guys and try to help, but the moderators change my post titles, tell me I need to spend more time with the manual, etc.

Just seems to be a somewhat defensive attitude over there.  Not horrible, but not helpful either.

I apologize for posting this--I was a bit frustrated at the time.

Hi !

It probably is unrelated to your problem, but I noticed that some plugins (notably IK Multimedia T-racks) cause some random note droppings, as you describe. you could try to disable all audio plugins (typing "E") and see if you lose notes again,

Hope this might help.

Hey Konradh,  there are always knuckleheads on every forum.  People misinterprate posts for a million reasons (just the nature of written word as oppose to the spoken).

I like asking questions on this forum 'cause there is always someone willing to help, even when it does not directly relate to Sonar.

I don't blame you for reaching out to other forums with the type of policing you're stating. I hope you get to the bottom of these issues.

Look for Sean Beeson or Mike Worth
Both great musicians/composers... and both have a lot of experience with sample libraries (EW and otherwise)

What a shock to hear that. I visit the "soundsonline" forums on a daily basis and have never noticed any thing of the sort (not in the categories that I visit). There are many very competent members that do not shy away from very detailed explanations and that are also very generous with the tips & tricks on a variety of topics such as achieving realism (if that's what your after). Mind you, I'm also not a prolific poster but I have never had any problems with the mods. Sorry to hear that, really.

Now this is one thing I've NEVER seen TRacks plugins do, either in 32 bit or 64 bit format.

Thanks, everyone.  Sorry I vented a bit!  I have spent a bunch of bucks and spend 3 hours on technical issues for every hour spent writing....so I get a little frustrated at times.

Great people and advice here!  And quite a few good ones on the EastWest...
