While not VSTs exactly, just about everything from Hollow Sun does just one thing and does it very well ... all in the form of Kontakt libraries, of course.

Here are two classic Italian transistor organs that nail their respective emulations:

Martinic Combo Model F (Farfisa)
Martinic Combo Model V (Vox Continental)

And they are free downloads!

And there are 64 bit versions too. I will have to give them a spin.

...things like OrganizedTrio, Mr. Tramp and that sort of thing.

You've mentioned two of GSi's products.  I presume that you have checked out their others, e.g. Miles'tone, MrRay and VB3.

Yeah, I've got Mr. Ray.  Good Rhodes sound.  I would get VB3 if it had a 64 bit version.  I just don't want to buy something that isn't 64 bit.

Hey Mod.
Is the Mr. Ray your go to rhodes?
The demos sound pretty nice to me.
Thanks

BTW, I think Trillian may fit your 'one trick pony' topic.

Hi Dave,

I just re-read your original post and realized that I listed guitar simulators vs. synths.

Just curious though, why are you looking for One trick Ponies vs. something that can give you a pretty good representation of all the stuff listed, like Spectrasonics Omnisphere?

Purchasing Omnisphere would probably be a lot cheaper in the long run and you would only need to become familiar with a common UI.

Just asking,

Kind regards,
Rick

I find myself, surprisingly, going back to Mr. Ray and Mr. Tramp plugs a lot. Mr. Ray has the growl in the bottom keys that a lot of the simulators just don't get. Organized Trio really gives B4 a run for it's money. Allthose GSI plugs are fantastic and they do work in 64 bit with BitBridge in X1. Mr. Ray thru a stereo chorus or panner really brings to mind the Max Middleton Rhodes sound on Jeff Beck's Blow by Blow album. It almost is exact.

Yes, Mr. Ray is my GOTO Rhodes.  I'd love to have the real deal in my studio though.

I guess it's my attraction to products that are more or less "finished."  IOW, they concentrate on one thing and do it as good as it can be done so you don't get a lot of compromises or "me too" attitude in it.  I don't limit a company to just one product but if I want a Rhodes simulation, I want to buy it from someone who has tried to make the best Rhodes simulation that they can do and not just some Rhodes samples that fit into their sampler engine.  Plus, I feel comfortable in the limitations that one trick ponies put on me.  When I load a sample in Dimension, all the parameters and knobs and stuff just sit there and dare me to monkey with them.  As a personal preference, I don't want to be distracted by that.

Heck, drawbars on a Hammond simulation are distracting enough.

Thanks Dave.

BTW, IMO, Omnisphere is way overated. The sounds are wonderful (with a lot of duplicity) but not too useable.
Again, IMO.
