Get someone you trust Herb. The last few times mine has gone out it was a capacitor. I hope yours isn't the compressor but it is always something huh?

Hoping for god news...

Dang man... I realize someone needs to live in SLC but does it have to be you?? Ahhhh, I am kidding, Utah is exactly where I would live if I wasn't so tied by family and business to GA. I love northeast Utah and WY. (I am guessing that SL.UT is Salt Lake.)

Just wait until July/August...  I can't wait to hear what Rain thinks of Las Vegas in the heat of summer. It may be an oasis but all things considered, it is still a desert.

I slapped it wit a brick... yeah I heard about the "hit it with a hammer" thing.

I checked the starting cap.... I have a meter that reads capacitance.

The breaker is good. I can put my amp meter on the wires and double check that in the morning....

I'm pretty sure the compressor rotor is locked.

The service guy is the same one who installed it and I went to church with him for a time. I think he's honest. A few things he has said and done have reinforced that to me.

It's still hot up here....

He hasn't made it out to ya yet? - Ughh  the heat sucks

The only other trick I can think of but Im sure you don't have one laying around is a Hot Start Capacitor.  Id add them to help save energy but they are made to really juice the motor and get it going fast saving electricity on compressor motor start ups

Hope he gets out there soon.  Cant imagine you trying to work in a Sauna and trying to enjoy a hot cup of coffee as you work up there

It's almost Friday.  I'm glad you've got somebody you trust for this one.  That can make a big difference.

Yeah Mike, that's what he said he would try first.

I certainly hope that works.

He's busy right now on a job out of town, so that's why he's slow in getting here.

Tomorrow morning at 9am.........

Woot Woot,

Hope it works out, its worth a shot and if its kick on, run it till it dies again then replace the unit

There is coolness in the near future

I did a similar thing with on old Curtis Mathes TV I had. We had that TV since the early days, I think before we even got married. Anyway we noticed the pic wasn't as bright as it had been and turning up the brightness knob to full had already been done.

I saw a "tube brightner" in one of the parts magazines I got in the mail so I ordered one and installed it.

It revived that old tube.... the pic was bright enough that I could turn the brightness back down a bit. We ended up giving that TV to my mom since she was using a very old TV that was in bad shape....and refused to buy a new one. She used that CM that we gave her, for a number of years until my brother broke down and bought her a new flat screen when she moved to the hills with him.

I went out and bought a "hard start" booster. Hooked it up and I almost thought it was gonna go.

But nope....  there is a dead short in the compressor. So, I guess it's new package unit time. But the upside is I can get a unit that is more efficient and cools this office a tad bit better than the old one did.
