I got new studio monitors for Christmas.  I think they sound killer!    Focal CMS 65 - V2 Cabinet - Sweetwater

I may have asked before but can't remember or find the results.  I'm looking for opinions regarding a reference recorded mix.  What song do you guys think was recorded, mixed and mastered at near perfection as possible?  I'm into Rock instrumental type of music...think Andy Timmons.

Nice choice of Monitors I preferred the Adams to them when I auditioned them late last year.

Your question is very subjective what you need is a selection of tracks that:-
1 You know well
2 cover the genres that you are likely to use them on
3 As someone else said in another thread somewhere else, you how they should/supposed to sound.
4 In an environment you are used to.

One other thing is do not forget to burn your speakers in build up the volume over a number of days and sessions.

Bob Katz's Honor Roll may be a good place to start.

Don't forget to treat your room.

Nice, Al.  I use Peter Gabriel's So album as a mix reference or I might use Dire Straight's Brothers in Arms too.  Most often I listen to "Red Rain" and "In Your Eyes" off of So.  On DS, I use the title track and then one of the others.  These two albums have top notch mixing and mastering with excellent dynamic material to reference.

Kind regards,
