Interesting write up in SOS about Auria - a very promising DAW for the iPad from Wavemachine Labs maker of Drumagog.  It is not a review but they do plan on doing one soon.

Not for me, but interesting.

When I think of my old Pentium w/ its huge CRT monitor and Cakewalk software - which allowed me to record an almighty 8 tracks of audio back in the late 90s...

Yep, pretty incredible.  I bought my wife an iPad 2 for Christmas last year and have used it once for backing tracks and haven't opted to spend time trying it as a controller and really never considered it at all as a viable DAW platform - and I'm still a skeptic but technology knows few boundaries.

This micro powerhouse computing is probably inspired by Star Trek technology but does it come with a transporter and food replicator?

Wow so small I can barely finger all those edits, all those envelopes and midi events are killing me. LOL!!

I wonder if this is the direction 'all' DAW's are heading as desktops die a slow death?
Technology is advancing rapidly and getting way more compact but that does not mean you can't use them for pro audio and video production or at the least use them as sketchPad or recording a band.

What next?, the Google EyeWear DAW? anyone could be walking along anywhere (unknowingly in the middle of a busy shopping center) uh oh, sorry didn't know this was the ladies room.

I guess this little computer powerhouse makes a whole lot of sense because it be a lot cheaper to manufacture, less material required.... I'm sure tree-huggers will be jumping with joy.

Suppose in the near future I can imagine a Windows version with the option to use the mighty pen for finer edits and have dedicated keys (assignable) and some sliders. These be hardware touchscreens specifically made for audio production. Load it up with SONAR and have connections to add multiple SS-Drives and accept VST's and is 64.bit and sit nicely on the desk with adjustable tilt (angles) yeah I guess it might be a winner.

Duh! With this technology someone could be driving along the highway whilst toying with multiple tracks?.... if they think texting whilst driving is bad?... lookout ma' here comes the DAWG!!

Just to think decades ago I was breaking my back carting around a ton of very expensive hardware gear and now we have this tiny little iPad DAW... hahahahahaha insane!!!
