Thank you Drew and Barry. And Kev and Mike...posted while I was writing this. Appreciate the kudos guys and Mike...I'll try
to post the next build for you..and others.

Very kind Craig. It is very possible that I underestimate the interest.

I did have a very cool conversation with a gentleman as a result of searching for some birdseye Maple.
I inquired via email about purchasing a couple of specific boards and unknowingly wound up dealing with the owner.
He suggested that I call him when he arrived at his destination as he was busy buying logs - I did.
We had a fantastic, lengthy discussion.
It was when I answered his question with "John Page" was really the man that inspired me that I became aware...
As it turned out- he is very good friends with Mr. Page and has been for many years. He is also the man that has supplied Fender with Maple wood for years...I couldn't believe I was having a great time with a man that knew friggin' everybody in the business.

Well yeah that was fun but what I'm really looking forward to is building a custom Tele for a local guy...that's what the birdseye is for.
LOL...he'll have some braggin rights I guess...same wood that goes to the Fender Custom shop LOL.
I have to learn how to wind a humbucker for it. I've wound some mini buckers so it should be a little easier. Those mini's are tough.
He wants a Tele style bridge pup and a humbucker with a splitter in the neck...personally I've never heard a bucker split that I liked the
sound of...curious what others think about it.
Well it should be a fun build and maybe some here would like to see it happen. ?
Mostly the design and materials have been made and I think it's going to be pretty sharp...if I don't screw it up.

Here's a good shot of some of that crazy wood grain. Oh....if ya didn't notice there's no switch- yep, ya know I love a blender
and it's fantastic being able to mix those P-90s with a little of this and a little of that...or a whole bunch! Just like the old classics-when
that volume knob rolls from around 8-10 they start grinding oh so sweetly. (think maximus blues:)

I always recommend doing a partial split, generally with something like 4 to 8k of resistance going to ground between the coils. Lower resistance is more SC and higher is more HB.

Obviously you can use a trim pot, but I prefer to jumper things up and just make a decision. Otherwise I'd feel the urge to open things up and try adjusting the trim pot every 6 months or so. And inevitably end up putting it back to the same setting it started in.

Another option to try is what I call "G&L series" wiring (after the way my G&L Tribute L-2500 bass' series/parallel switch works) - you just put a cap with an appropriate value to ground between the coils. Effectively this makes the PU single coil at higher frequencies and series humbucking at lower frequencies (with the crossover determined by the cap value).

Of course it always depends on what you're going for and what kind of HB you're starting out with.

Thank you Steve, Tim and Greg.

Thanks Drew. Specifics and variations for desires not really an issue-especially when it's for another. After all, it's what they
want that matters. My position is that I've never heard a dual coil split that I thought sounded as good as a single coil. Maybe
they can...just haven't played one yet that I liked. Maybe it's just my lame excuse for owning many guitars rather than a "dial a sound".

Love it. The P90 pups, overall design, wood tones, headstock, neck, body, hardware, it's all awesome. Ideal studio guitar; I would not allow to leave the studio hehehe

Why do I get the impression that the Wookiee doesn't really worry about anyone stealing his Spacey guitar?

{ahem} My advise is, let the Wookiee have the guitar.
