We went to 6000 ft. The landing was a little scary. The pilot was going to drop us in a parking lot but decided last minute to land somewhere else. We went low and then went back up to barely over the trees. Finally landing in a field over the trees.

what a rush....

but.... how do you decide anything "at the last minute" in a hot air balloon except maybe to jump before crashing into the power lines?

You did this? W/o someone w/ a gun in their hand forcing you to? I said it before, you are a brave man.

I went on one of those balloon rides once.  They didn't have enough room in the basket, so I had to ride inside the balloon with the helium.  The view wasn't quite so good from in there.  After we came back down, it took about six hours for me to stop sounding like one of the chipmunks.

They sent me a cease and desist letter.  I get a lot of those.

I'd much rather land than be dropped...

Beagle
I've been up in one before.  we took the kids to a balloon festival type thing several years ago and some of the ballonists would allow those who paid to enter the park to ride with them to help do some of the tasks.

a balloon requires at least a team of 2 people.  one to fly it, one to drive the chase truck to put it in when it lands.

but it's also easier to put it away if you have more than 2 people helping, so I flew with a guy in exchange for helping put it away when we landed.

what I remembered the most was that it was so QUIET up there!

Am I the only one picturing Beagle flying along with his head hanging over the side and his ears flapping in the breeze?

I didn't think so.
