After researching this a little further, it appears that the only two "cymbals" that aren't loaded in the default ECO DV template are the 14 Cust Mastersound HiHat and the 14 New Beat HiHat.  However, there are no kit piece definitions to allow you to load those particular hihats, and no kit piece definitions to allow loading the brush/mallet variations of the other cymbals, either.  Very odd.

I'm seeing 6 Hihats listed in the ZP1 pack...  what do you see (post a screen shot)...

I don't see any of the above, which is why I am (or was) confused.  For some reason, you and everyone else ended up with "kit piece definitions" in the "Program Files (x86)\FXpansion\BFD Eco DV\System\Kit Pieces\Cymbals and \HiHat" folder, but I don't have those files.  Since they are simple XML files, I ended up making up my own files, and now I have all the requisite kit pieces.  Something obviously went awry during the install, and those files were never copied where they are supposed to go, and I can't find them anywhere on my drive(s).  Very odd, but after tweaking things manually I now have what I was expecting to have, which is what you show in your screen shot.  Thanks to everyone for your replies and good help!

If you're missing the info.xml files then I'd highly recommend you try reinstalling just in case that's not all you're missing...  Search your system for a .log file to see what the installer log says.

If you do want the correct info.xml file(s)... look on the DVD's in the Installer\Payload\Audio file path... you should be able to locate the info.xml files in the Hihat folders...  You can't copy the samples manually, but you can copy the xml files manually okay. 

Tip:  To filter out kit pieces in the load dialog like in my screen shot above -- click on the magnifying glass button and select the 3 letter code for the library...  ZP1 for the Zildjian 1 pack, CWK for Rock Legends, etc.

Thanks for the tips, Rail!  I will see if a reinstall helps.  I didn't think to look on the install disk for the XML files ... doh!  Nothing like doing things the hard way ...

 I finally loaded the z pak the other night. I noticed that the cymbals are breaking up using the program they provide with the kit. The tails seem distorted. I am the administrator on my computer so I doubt this is the problem.

 I am running BFD 2 in 64 bit and I also have BFD eco in 64 bit neither of which have this problem. I have not yet linked the pathway to the z pak from my BFD 2. I'll update you on the problem or if it goes away with the different pathway. My guess is it has something to do with the provided program running in 32 bit on my 64 bit machine or in the program itself. Cclarry I am wondering why running your system in administrator would have any effect on the problem? Just curious.

Try running the Eco DV in Standalone mode to see if you still have a playback (disk streaming) issue...  You can change the buffer size in Eco.  


Tip:  Also it's best to run your sessions at the native sample rate of the BFD2 data of 44.1kHz to reduce system overhead.

I just tested this and if my buffers are set to 2048 then I get all kinds of "crackle"...

If I set them to 32 everything is ok...

I'm running on 8 gig of memory....

Buffer size must play an important role in this....

So with the Standalone I have to set my sample rate to 44.1K
and my buffers to 32....and everything is ok...

I would run a check changing sample rates and buffers to see where your system "draws the line"

The info.xml files are not the XML files I am missing ... I am missing the <cymbal_name>.eco_kpp XML files from the Kit Pieces folders.  It's no wonder I didn't get the files ... they don't exist on my install DVD in the "Installer\Payload\System\Kit Pieces\Cymbals" and "..\HiHat" folder!  I also tried downloading and installing the 1.0.1.27 update, but that didn't install them either.  I think I just got a bad install disk set, so I may ask for a new one.  Everything else but the *.eco_kpp files seems to be there ... those are the only ones missing.  Anybody else having this problem?

.eco_kpp files are kit preset files...  They have nothing to do with the sounds...  and most expansions don't include kit piece presets - just full program presets.  The kit piece presets are there to adjust velocity to amplitude settings for pieces which require it - the lack of a kit piece preset just indicates the authors didn't believe the Hihats required them.

The info.xml files are what BFD uses to find the kit pieces.. You load a new kit piece in Eco (BFD) by double clicking the image (slot) for the piece...  

You're not missing anything.

Rail is correct.  He does not seem to be missing anything.

Sorry, but I don't hang out here much.  I produced these for Zildjian and have done a very large portion of the BFD expansion packs.  This pack does not have kit piece presets.  Because there are no drums in the initial payload it was not practical to do any presets.
