An old post I wrote - still relevant  Zomboid Spectra Formulator - Ghost note generator  WhaleZ - Mating sounds of whales - 200 patches for Kore Player and Kore 2  ScarbeePenultimateBass - A pre Amp pre post pre Bass MM  UpsideDown Piano - Noted for its coldness and thin sound  Inverted Piano - Modelled after a world famous black piano  Tilted Piano - Sits well in an uneven mix  Saloon Piano - Sounds like those old Western pianos  Kore Blimey - The successor to Kore 2.  Massive Mutation Attacks - 200 patches of massive mutating attacks  Harmonic Reflections - Weird sounds for people who like weird sounds  Reanimated Spectrals - Evolving pads and loud noises that forever expand and yet shrink but are still rich for Reaktor 5  Moonlight Vibrations - 200 new patches for Absynth tweaked from old ones with different names yet vaguely familiar  Thermal Distractions - A compilation of 200 patches of sounds never used or even heard by anyone ever before, except dogs.  B5 III - For those who lament the death of B4 II, this takes over and is slightly worse but more expensive than its predecessor.  Trakchine - Midi controller for DJs and real musicians with knobs and lights and massive, nay whopping, nay impressive, nay thrice incredible 985GB of content. It takes 4 days to load. It replaces your desk, your mixer and your partner.  Abbey Martin - New channel strip that makes everyone a fifth Beatle.  Guitar Rig SuperPro 6 - 3 new Amps - Green, Vintage and Stack, plus a new control room to oversee the first control room and 2 new stomps - Louder and LouderStill - And a browser that seemed like a good idea but just annoys you and you wish it was the old one.  Big Bassy Bass - A bass that's big and more bassy than any bass we've ever produced or even thought of  Round the Corner From Abbey Road Drums - Drums recorded from a studio within walking distance of Abbey Road  Advanced Diametric Transparencies - You don't even know you need it.

Love it!!!!!

Tempted to get Ultimate, but then I saw the upgrade from Komplete7 is still $389.  GC lists the Ultimate upgrade for $499 and frequently runs specials for 15% and occassionally even gives a $100 discount.  I think I will wait for K9 and see what it includes.

I do admit that Kontakt5 for $59.50 is a good deal.

Nothing interesting for me unfortunately. I only have Guitar Rig Pro 5 (w/o controller). And I was looking for a crossgrade from there to Komplete or something.. But no luck there.

Upgrading Session Strings to Pro would probably be a good move.

Upgrading Kontakt to full could be nice - but then again, I really don't need all that stuff. The few libraries that I use and which are an integral part of my toolbox all play just fine in Player.

Besides Alicia's Key, which I'm planning to get sometimes down the road, there isn't much left for me in the NI store at this time.

NI aren't getting a penny off me.. and I doubt I'm the only one.. half price or not I won't be upgrading till I have to.. do I need more sound packs ? not really gimme VST's and not sound packs already used in the past in some cases.

I went into the NI store and nothing calling my name there. Went back after the Session Strings Pro suggestions, went to listen to the audio demos and dang if they aren't all covered up by non session string instruments, guitars, percussion, horns all over the place - not much of a demo of the strings themselves IMO. I think the basic version will do just fine after all.

I must admit I am tempted by the crossgrade from Kontakt 4 to Komplete for 187.5 Euros, but its not compelling.

I do have concerns that my OS is no longer officially supported by NI.

What may really open up things for me is the synths, Reactor, Massive, FM8 etc. How good are they?

GR5 would be a real nice to have, but I currently have GR4 XE and Amplitube so I am not exactly hurting in the amp sim department.
K5 (or K6) is probably going to be essential in the long run but I am in no hurry to upgrade until a must have third party library requiring K5 comes along.

I have a few of the included instruments packs for Kontakt already. The remaining ones I have covered by third party instruments. MM bass and the Scarbee Rhodes & Calvi would be nice, but I am not exactly short of bass and EP sounds. Sampletekk covers my acoustic piano requirements. Abbey Road 60's Drums and Studio Drummer, well you can never have too many drums, but there are some drum products a lot higher up my wish list.

Battery - I know it has some fans but it looks a bit dated to me and I am not sure I would use it much.  My drums are Superior (with several EZX and SDX) or Steven Slate with a bit of BFD Eco thrown in. I seldom use electronic drums.

So it really comes down to do I want the synths?

I have missed the 3 week summer sale.

I agree with the comments above about upgrading from 7 to 8 not being compelling. At the summer sale discount price I probably would have upgraded.

The current "get KOMPLETE 8 before September 30, 2012 and get RAZOR, SESSION STRINGS, and THE MOUTH for free!" offer, does not interest me as I have RAZOR already.
