The latest promo from UA is for the latest software containing (and touting) their "new" Sonnox Oxford EQ plug.  Hmmmm.  Can't you already buy that from Sonnox?  From, like, Sweetwater or Musician's Friend or any of the scads of other resellers??  WTF??? What next?  UA starts selling Amplitube 3?  Or Kontakt?  UA made its name by selling plugs of esoteric hardware that was NOT available in plug form and also doing the plugins RIGHT.  This is silly.  Geeze Louise.

I guess there was a demand for it.

I've known quite a few engineers who swear by them - the TDM version. Maybe UAD is trying to attract some of them...

I for one have been getting antsy for something new outta them folks. Maybe it's to placate the masses. Sure has a nice little price tag on it. But, at least they gave me another $50 coupon today.

You can save all of $15 dollars by buying it from UAD.  Of course don't forget you'll need at least a SOLO card to run it!  This is laughable.

+1

I'm kind of glad my set-up is how it is already today.  I'd sure be scratching my head just now if I was getting equipped for the first time.

I've got enough Eq's to Eq with anyway, and most of them are really good at Eq'ing.

Hardly a big surprise. Last year when TC dropped its PoCo DSP line, which also included the Sonnox plug-ins, they offered a cross-grade to the UAD-2.  UAD's tie-up with Sonnox was announced long ago. Anyway, BFD, Sonnox already offer native versions and nobody needs to use UADs to run 'em.

Now, a surprise would be if UAD started offering native versions of its own plug-ins...

Yea it was announced at TC quite a while ago. There's still a few vendors selling the poco version on e-bay for $350 for eack plug. Not sure what protection device they use for the native. If it's codemeter, I'd prefer to have the poco or UAD version.  A few 3rd party poco plugs are going native character from novelech and the first 3rd party UAD plug has already gone native SPL transient

I think they should emulate the UAD 1 hardware on the UAD 2… vintage DSP… phat and warm...
