I logged on to adobe.com for the first time in a year or so;

just wanted to see how many photoshop versions I was behind.

They're really pushing cloud leasing.

Photoshop $20 a month; and their entire Adobe catalog for $50 monthly.
They advertise 6 new filters and they're available only with a cloud subscription.

Wonder if Cakewalk, Cubase, etc are far behind?

The Maillard Reaction

I had a service tech out here who ran my DSL line from the wall down the road back to the hub and replaced all the connector blocks along the way with fresh ones because I have been having intermittent  internet connectivity and he couldn't find anything else to try fixing.

He decided, as have 7 other techs and a couple engineers, that there is nothing wrong.

Never the less, we had another internet outage an hour ago and there seems to be no known reason why.

Apparently after a 2-1/2 years run of 100% perfect connectivity we will now have capricious and arbitrary connectivity with the cloud for the for see able future.

The mere mention of "cloud" makes me want to look at all the other choices.

best regards,
mike

I have wondered if Adobe's cloud means instant upgrades and downloads of applications that run on your local system or if the application is truly sitting up on a server someplace and processing your data remotely?

Anyone know?

I'm hoping to replace my microwave with a 3d printer.

From what I've been hearing it appears that eventually (this could be way in the future though) everything will be "up there". Your "personal computer" will be nothing more than a "terminal" for accessing it.

OMG,

Back in the 70s we had "mainframes" and were connected to them via CRTs.

I hope we never get back there again.
