Hi All
Much as I hated doing it, I just gave NI a bit more of my money so I could upgrade to Komplete 8 - thankfully the discount was pretty spectacular so it was not very much !
Even better I got a free library (Analogue Machines) and a discount voucher.
I've looked through what's on offer and very little appeals except perhaps one of the Abbey Road Drummer Libraries. I have the 60's library (just updated to new Studio Drummer style with grooves) which comes with Komplete and what I would really like to know before choosing one of the other Abbey Road Libraries is if ALL the groove libraries with each Abbey Road pack are different, or are the same grooves bundled with each Library?
I've looked at their website but it is not clear and as I really would lose the will to live if I have to email them directly, I wondered if someone (like Bapu!!!) might have all the 4 libraries and would know if the grooves with each library are different.
Cheers
Nigel

IIRC @Rain has at least one of the Abbey Road kits other than the 60's era. I have the same kits as you. Never thought about the groove libraries, just the drums. I never read anything about the grooves being tailored to a given decade. That would be very cool.

I do have the 70s one. But since I only have one, I can't tell whether they include different libraries. I thought maybe we could compare a capture of my grooves library w/ what you have in the 60s one - but I just realized in the process that I've customized my library and added the Studio Drummer series of loops to it. :s

Hi Rain
Thanks - I think the only definitive way of finding this out is for someone who has all of them to just compare the libraries - my feeling is that if you are trying to replicate drums from specific eras then the loops would be different.
Anyway hopefully someone who does have more than one library (like us!) will pitch in soon.
Cheers

Well after a closer look at all the Abbey Road Drum Packages I found this on the information about the 80's pack:-
"The Groove Library gives you a personal session drummer — to play the drums of the era in the styles of the era.

ABBEY ROAD | 80s DRUMMER contains 1,000 grooves, divided into five genres: pop, heavy metal, new wave/indie, punk rock, and hardcore, with a choice of fills and variations for each groove."

So I think the answer to my question is possibly yes!

Well the answer is Yes - I purchased the 80's drummer library with my voucher and it is different, so I assume they all are.

Thanks Nigel. I'm evaluating the possibility of adding 60's to my arsenal - good to know that there's most likely a bunch of different loops in there.

Rain, as I said before I have the 60's Drummer - it came free with Komplete - however not sure how much use this will ever get - not really played with it too much since the upgrade (before it was just a library, no loops etc) but on first glance does seem to be and sound (not surprisingly) very era specific! I suppose if you're into making Beatles covers that's good but.........

Thanks for the info Nigel. :)

I often like to integrate certain very specific type of sounds in my own work - little touches, here and there -  so I think I could make it work for me.

Does anyone know if any Abbey Road kits have open bottom concert toms? That's one kind of drum I'm missing right now.
