just remember mike, the second you turn off(go to sleep)your computer, when they power up or wake up,they find a new ip everytime.
static ip's will assign each there own Permenent ip address.
something to think about,

the instructions i gave you up top are fool proof from begining to end  :)

best of luck buddy.

If it helps I have a fairly comprehensive wireless LAN around the house. My skybox (satellite) is on a Zyxel G570s WAP in client mode and is the only node on my setup that gives me issues, connecting to the internet seemingly when it feels like it. The rest of the system which are all various brands (except Zyxel) works perfectly all the time.

As far as I can tell the Zyxel is set up correctly and when it does connect works perfectly but drops in and out when it feels like it. I intend to replace that WAP with a different brand as soon as I get around to it. I have reached the conclusion that it is an issue with the unit.

Hi Karyn,

I was working at a location today and the reception room has a Keep Calm poster.

It made me chuckle. I wouldn't have known what it was if it wasn't for your avatar.

:-)

1-1/2 months, 8+ hours of the best phone support conversations, 2 modems and a 3rd on the way (none of which seem to have anything wrong with them) and I still only get internet when the internet wants me too.

:-(

I spent over an hour on the phone today with support trying to get on the internet. I could see my modem/wireless router. The guy in the sky could see my modem. We couldn't see each other. All that after 4 hours of solid connectivity this morning.

As soon as we got off the phone it started working like peaches and cream.

The field tech shows up tomorrow.

I hope it looks broken so we can finally fix it.

3 days ago the modem said I had no DSL but I was surfing the internet. Today it said I had 100% connectivity but I couldn't see the world. Engineers have re programmed the server. I've flushed my DNS cache. yada yada yada.

I'm glad to think I haven't gotten frustrated yet. :-)

Whistle while you work.

:-)

Hmm...  Interesting.  I don't have DSL, but internet flakeyness is also the issue I've been having.  I'm now on my second cable modem, one that has wireless networking included like you mentioned.  Maybe there's something not working right with their "Big Brother" plugin?

since lightning was an issue there may be some damage upstream on your service provider telco lines to heat coils, protectors, cross connects etc that may be a bit flaky.

They keep saying everything tests 100%.

:-)

I believe them, they have all be real thorough... I'm just hoping that we'll eventually find the right thing to test and get it fixed real soon.
