SC is much improved but is still a real bugger to use. SC/WB is now one program. It is the only product for EW that I regret buying so I would not recommend it. You can get good results out of it but the time it takes is not worth it in my opinion. OOOHH's and AAAHHH's and that type of stuff sound great and there are some nice legato soloists but what you want out of it is a choir singing real words that people can A. understand and B. do not sound like a machine. The time it takes for me to do that just makes it almost worthless.

Even in the best of circumstances, a live performance by professionals does not guarantee clarity (pronounciation / articulation) and unless the listener is familiar with the piece, this will always be somewhat of a problem according to experts in the know. There was a thread recently over at the "Soundsonline" forums discussing this very topic (as far as I can remember).

And you are correct in stating that it's not for the faint of heart.

Yes, I do understand, from watching the WB tutorials, that it is hard to get all that one wants w/o maximum hours of manipulation. I guess my least expectations would be to get a few words rather than intricate and varied words that consume precious time. Too bad some wiz didn't just put some words together and sell them to users.

What about voices of passion and its usability and flexibility?

VOP sounds great..., in the proper context (New Age, Film scoring etc.). Even more so as "bg" vocals and as a special fx (supportive role) only IMHO. I guess I could summarize its usefulness by saying that it's a very good niche product that has its place in your very special vocal fx toolbox. You won't be using it very often, but when you do, it won't disappoint.

You can get the entire East West TeraPack
from SoundsOnline for $899...if you have the big bucks!

Do you have a link to that offer?
I have searched the soundsonline site for mention of it, but the only thing listed are licenses for the terrapak.

New age and film scoring are what I'm looking for, but how much of it is British/American, or English? I don't presently need any ethic voices. What does it offer for articulation, voicings, words, oohs, ahhs and playability?

  • OK thanks. I saw that. They referto it as the Complete Composer Collection.

The original TeraPak had ALL of EWs products that you could test drive for 10 days, then purchase licenses a la carte..
    that was my confusion
