KMT vs SMT

What's the opinions on this for those who have purchased Slates release and have both...

I have an opportunity to get the Kramer TT&T for $150 with the voucher...

I like them both, I'd get ReelBus too.

I prefer Slate overall, better choice for mastering, Waves & ReelBuss more for coloration i.e. drum buss, certain instruments.
Tape is pretty subtle, not like some tape plugins try to emulate.
The closest to tape over all is Nebula & their 3rd party programs.

For one choice I'd go for Slate's VTM

Thanx Carl...

Do you have TT & T or just Kramer Master Tape?

I demoed TT&T & purchased the Master Tape.
Didn't care for the eq although the comp was nice.

clarry the VTM is better in sound ...but the kramer bundle is one of the best bundle waves make .....

The MPX (kramer tape) is less linear , i use it more like a sound design tool ...while the VTM is like a real tape in my workflow : i adds that mojo in the best natural way !!

so get both !!

To quote an expert in this area from another thread ........ me  :)

" ... US$200 for VTM [ a great plug but you need an iLok ] ......... US$250 for UAD plus card/dongle cost [ also a great plug but its not native and its not native X64 ] ................... US$ ~19 for TB ReelBus [ a great plug that is native and no iLok and is native X64 ] and which for all intents and purposes does everything the other two do ....... "

I'm not kidding - together with my mixing / mastering colleague who owns all the UAD gear and who also grabbed the VTM Demo and who bought the T/Boosters suite - we spent hours  A / B / C  'ing  the three.

The  *only*  time ReelBus was not as sonically "nice"  or " equal "  to the  other 2 was when we pushed the signal  really, really, really hard and ultra-hot - at that point,  its " distortion " / " saturation "   was not as   " smooth " or sonically pleasing  as the other 2.

However ...... and this is a MASSIVEW HOWEVER ........., given  %99.99 of people in %99.99 of situations will  *never ever* need or want to push it that hard I can see no reason [ other than brand loyalty / envy / impressing the client ]  that anyone would spend more than   EURO$15  as compared to  US$250  or  US$250 + UAD hardware.

This suite - and this plugin - aong with the Barricade [  also in the suite ]  are  by a country mile  , the  2  plugins of the year.

Enjoy.

Cool info Timboe! I will look into the Tonebooster thing for sure!

I have a track I finished the other day and showed to a friend of mine. He asked if I could send it to him because he wanted to try something. I sent him a 48KHz/24-Bit stereo wav and a half hour later I listened to the same track but with some amazing fairy dusting on it that made me want to hug myself (). I asked my friend what he had done to it and he said he had just ran it through the Kramer thing from Waves and I have to admit - I'm damn impressed!!! However, it cost a lot!

But on the other hand - now I need a plug like this. If the Tonebooster does the same thing then I'm all over it. I see they have a trial version - will check it out over the weekend. If not then I think I'll save up for the Kramer.

Or the slate

The plug-ins in Kramer's TTT bundle can be purchase separately. If all you want is MPX Tape, you can get it for $129 over @ Audio Deluxe. ;)

I love the TTT Bundle. The HLS Channel can do marvels on guitars - it has a way to sweeten and smoothen things up. No surgical eq'ing, more like tonal balancing and shaping. And the PYE Bus can work marvels on subgroups.

Thanx Rain...

That was my thought too..

Here's the kicker...I can get TT&T at AD for $155 , which is only $26 more, (and gets me 2 more $150 plugs) and I get the voucher with TT&T, which gets me another bundle at a discount..

I'm thinking that waiting for VTM to go on sale (which it will) is the way to go to buy that...
