Rain

The plug-ins in Kramer's TTT bundle can be purchase separately. If all you want is MPX Tape, you can get it for $129 over @ Audio Deluxe. ;)

I love the TTT Bundle. The HLS Channel can do marvels on guitars - it has a way to sweeten and smoothen things up. No surgical eq'ing, more like tonal balancing and shaping. And the PYE Bus can work marvels on subgroups.

Thanx Rain...

That was my thought too..

Here's the kicker...I can get TT&T at AD for $155 , which is only $26 more, (and gets me 2 more $150 plugs) and I get the voucher with TT&T, which gets me another bundle at a discount..

I'm thinking that waiting for VTM to go on sale (which it will) is the way to go to buy that...

If you can get the bundle at that price PLUS the voucher, I'd say jump on it.

I hesitated for a while because I thought it was probably good only if you were after replicating one type of sound - almost as a special effect, not necessarily usable on a regular basis. But that really isn't the case.

I'll check out Slate in due time (and after I upgrade my iLok), but MPX does a fine job. I also had Magnetic installed, but I ended up removing it from my computer. Between Waves MPX and McDSP's AC-2, I pretty much have everything I need - so that Slate plug-in better be good. :P

That's what I'm thinking too..

I know the other Slate stuff gets rave reviews...

But for me to pluck to $250 (I make 8 bucks an hour) is a HARD SELL...LOL

So, if I get the TT&T deal I'm punting for right now..
then I'll side by side with the VTM demo and see...

I haven't got to try the Slate stuff yet. I have 3 dongles 1 ilock that I first got for some synths a few years ago. 1 ilock I got free with pro-tools M-powered and a code meter for SSL. I need ilock 2 to try the Slate stuff. I think I'll wait until I can get a plug I want, on sale that comes with one. That may be a while.
I do have the Kramer and compared it to a UAD Studer demo and have to agree. Though the Studer seemed the better choice for the final mix or main buss. The Kramer is most useful on instruments. I've been finding more and more when a track needs a little something...the Kramer tape plug does it for me. It has become my favorite and most used waves plug. I'd get the Kramer for sure but I think if you wait until the Christmas sale, you'll get it for $99

Thanx Grant...

Most I'm looking to make a killing on these...

Right now the VTM is being sold at $250 WITH or WITHOUT the Ilok....

you'd be stupid to buy the one without....get the one with and SELL the Ilok if you already have
one and get some money back...(obviously to get the download and get INSTANT grat)

I don't know WHY they would do that....pretty DUMB!  But hey....no one said Corporations
were intelligent...neither are we as they suck our wallets dry for stuff that
we already used to have and got rid of when "digital" became the "in" thing..

We paid to get OUT of analogue,,,now we pay to get BACK IN....go figure..

Not trying to divert this thread, but Timboe has made a very good point.  Toneboosters' TBReelBus for EURO $15 and Barricade for the same amount are absolutely GREAT.  They are as he said the "2 plugins of the year".  I totally agree (at least for this price point).

Concerning VTM, I will wait for audiomidi or audiodeluxe to do one of their great sales sometime in the (probably distant) future and grab it.  It does sound like from users here and elsewhere that it is the one/first Slate product that turned out to be as good as advertised right out of the gate.

CCleary--you mention the limited funds (8 $ an hour) and the high cost of VTM at $250.  I would encourage you to try out TBReelBus.  Just download the demo and give it a try.  It has become my goto tape sim.  Sometimes I use Magnetic II, sometimes Kramer MPX, but TBReelBus is the first try and the one I use more than others.  So if funds are tight, I really suggest you take a close look at TBReelBus.  Just download the free demo and see for yourself.  Then, when you get the $250 or when audioxxxxx puts one on sale, grab VTM.

Again, not trying to hijack this thread, just agreeing with Timboe and saying give TBReelBus a try also.  Just my 2 cents.  YMMV.

I'm now too embarrassed to get TBReelBus (at such a low price) since I've spent the children's inheritance on all the others I have.

Ya, I'm a doofus.

Wish I had the $250 I would go for it, I just sold a kidney to get a Duende  DSP card for about the same price. Turns out DSP cards are habbit forming for those with nerd tendencies.
