Decided to do a substantial computer upgrade.  Got a new motherboard, new proc, new RAM, new SSD.
Disconnected everything from the existing mobo, took out said mobo... Opened up the pretty new mobo, went to put it in... I'll be damned... Didn't fit, wrong form factor. I didn't even think to check to see if it would fit before ordering it.  Now, I have to either send back the mobo, cpu and memory ( which does not work on my existing mobo) or get a new case.

Sh1t!!!!

The new case would probably cost as much as the return shipping.  Besides, once I get a new toy it never seems to "go back!"

Make sure you get an oversized power supply too!

Yeah I know... It's just that using the same case as cool... Wife would never have known I upgraded the guts.    There won't be any way to hide this.

Building a custom box is always an adventure.  You tend to learn all the answers to the questions you didn't know you should have asked.

It took the better part of 3 weeks for me to get my custom DAW built..... the mistakes from the online seller sending the wrong parts, combined with the mistakes I made not realizing the MOBO didn't have video built in........ but it all worked out in the end.

Oh yes... I know.  The computer I have right now is the first computer I didn't build in like 15 years.  I used to be a serious computer goober. Always had to have the latest fastest anything. Was always building exchanging.  But I got bored of it. So my last computer was Dell.  Just didn't want the hassle.  For some dumb reason I just assumed the mobo would fit. Never even gave it a second thought actually.
