I talked myself out of the dbx 160 last night. I was able to get about the same results with the pro channel comps. I have reverbs covered with my powercore plugs but I don't have any delay plug that I really love. I'm going to demo those I think.

I'm demoing the Time Cube and the Echoplex Tape Delay.  They each have their place... I have a bad feeling I may end up with both by the end of the month.  Echoplex eats a lot more of the DSP, but it has that sound you can't really get from anything else.  Already have the FabFilter delay which is great for strange delay effects, but I like the simplicity and sound of the two UAD models I've been playing with.

Oh, if I have a whole month chances are I'll grab a few. I'm just trying the UAD-2 exclusive plugs for the first time..very nice so far

That looks quite modest until you list the Waves Mercury bundle the Nomad, Don't Crack stuff and the entire PSP collection...

I think the Jeroen Breebaart stuff could do with updating to the ToneBooster series though...

I looked at this years UAD sale but there's nothing I could justify this time around although the Cambridge is nagging at the back of my mind.

Yeah, if it wasn't for some surprise dental work I'd be demoing a few others as well.

You mentioned compressors... not sure what the discount is on the Fatso, but I really, really like the way it sounds and feels.  They market it as tape saturation, but believe me... it's much more of a modern compressor with some character.  I've been running one with the tranny on for my lead vocal channel and another on my master buss with less saturation(I think I leave the tranny off on that one).  Now, if you don't have at least a Duo, you might not want to get it, as it takes a lot of DSP, but I have a Quad so I grabbed it after demoing it for about an hour.  It does things that I can't get with any other compressor or channel plugin.

Another notable compressor is the new 1176 bundle, but I don't know if it's discounted much this month.  I think it still shows the same $149 I paid for it when it first came out.  It's a big improvement over the original 1176 or any of the others I have tried.  (I have the Pro Channel 1176 and the IK version as well.)

Before you drop your dime on the UA delays at least check out SoundToys EchoBoy.  With it and Timeless 2 you'll have basically any delay type sound covered.

That looks to be a nice set of tools. Everything for ~$107. Not a bad price.

Thanks,  with a month to deciede, I certainly will give the new 1176 bundle and fatso a try. I only have a solo card now so not sure if I can get much mileage out of the fatso

Thanks ole pal, I'll try Echo boy and Timeless 2 out.

Yea, glad for that.  Just curious I've tried the Studer and really liked it. Between the Studer and Fatso, what is more mission critical for you?
