Why is it on every forum I go to people are fast to **** on IK multimedia? They are not a bad company. For every person who says they have gotten bad support or no support at all I do not see it. I have gotten responses from them about stuff within 20 minutes of sending an email and usually no longer than 24 hours. All Obi did was make awareness of his companies new product how is that any different than anyone else going to a thread and talking about a new product? Because he works for the company is a terrible come back by the way. It would be no different than a Sonar fanboy going on to a forum saying omg look at this version of Sonar its great yada yada and Obi didn't even take it that far. In the end if you do not like the product just stop bumping the thread and the topic will go away.

Maybe you and I have a different opinion on spam but I think if I would come here and post the same things Obi did about IK products nobody would have a problem with it since I am in no way affiliated with IK. They make good products and if this Slash library isn't for you so be it but I bet it will be for someone.

Not at all.

This is a peer to peer forum, I know for example by experience of folk here, so say if 'olpal tells me that XYZ compressor is the next big thing I'm more likely to listen, because over time I've learned what he likes normally have some merit with me also.

When you have paid reps coming in it would just simply turn into a page full of adverts.

Peers discuss the warts an' all, reps leave those bits out.

If you were to talk about a drum machine app. it would carry more weight with me than if NI waded in to promote Maschine themselves.  See because you are part of the community I recognize what areas your strengths are already and that you simply don't have an interest in promoting something.  If you did I'd smell it a mile away.

Fair play to Obi at least he brands himself he's not covert that way, but this place works as a community, if the marketing departments have their way it would be flooded with similar spam and thereby completely dead and useless.  They'd kill it if they took hold simple as.  The reason why it's a TOS violation.

There's plenty of people around here that take part in the community that have music related financial interests, none of them behave like this.

If you allow one they'll all be justified in joining in.

Anyhow it's been reported the mods can decide what they want, I don't like it that's just my opinion, I'm not bothered if anyone agrees with my singular view or not.

For the record I didn't knock IK's product or their service, indeed it would be a fool who stated that they didn't have a good portfolio of products, I merely stated my dealings with Obi and his Boss put me off ever wanting to know about them.

There's rakes of good stuff out there to be had, in a buyers market I have a right to choose who I'd prefer to do any business with, and it's always more likely to be those that are courteous, don't get defensive when asked pertinent questions and don't use every opportunity to ram stuff down my throat.  But that's just me.

If I did it it wouldn't be "spam" or advertisements because I do not hold any financial interest in IK. I just talk about products that I find interesting. I find this product interesting and I am glad he posted it because I didn't know much about it. I have spent most of this week learning about Abelton Live and Reason 6.5 so this went under the radar for me. Thanks Obi for creating awareness of a product.
