Violation of TOS is wrong regardless of username posted under.

If I did it it wouldn't be "spam" or advertisements because I do not hold any financial interest in IK. I just talk about products that I find interesting. I find this product interesting and I am glad he posted it because I didn't know much about it. I have spent most of this week learning about Abelton Live and Reason 6.5 so this went under the radar for me. Thanks Obi for creating awareness of a product.

Did Ableton and Propellerhead come here to create awareness of their latest developments that you'd got distracted with?

I can't remember it if they did.

What difference would it have made? Its totally different for a plug in dev to go to a site where someone might use their products vs a DAW dev who has no real interest in what other DAWs are doing. IK is not the only company I see with reps around the net helping to create awareness of their products. Obi just happens to be one of the more transparent about it.

Did you read my previous post before the one you quoted here.?

That's where the meat of the issue was.

I've said all I'm going to say on the subject, I have no objections to anyone making their own mind up.  I've clearly stated my views already

I read what you said I just think its one sided. I see nothing wrong with him saying hey heres a new amp check it out. if i am not interested its simple i just ignore it no harm done

I'm fine with that POV.  Just don't tell me I'm knocking their support dept, or them as a company is all, otherwise I'll have to clarify again.

What happened here? Software thread letting people know about software. DUH! Propelerhead and Ableton would not post here because they are DAWs.

Go Obi. I don't think your a spammer or maybe you are but you don't come off as one.

If I understand you, the iOS version is a bit hobbled when compared to the PC version. Correct?

The reply I got from IK sales basically said as much. The iPhone/iPad versions are made specifically for the CPU/ram of those devices so the sound quality is restricted by those limitations. Still, it would be interesting to hear a side-by-side comparison of the i-versions with the custom shop models.

I wasn't saying you directly knock their support or them as a company its something that happens all over the net. Honestly I think their support for their products is a lot better than Cakewalk support. Hell I emailed Cakewalk support over 2 months ago about an issue I had and they emailed me back just a few days ago saying sorry we were busy with our sales and promotions then weren't able to resolve my issue at all and when I stumped them with a question they just stopped emailing me back. I have called tech support who have flat out avoided questions I asked because they do not know the answer to it. The only other company who has ever given me this kind of crappy support has been Akai.

That's the pov that I come from. I mean maybe because they can be rewired into Sonar perhaps but Sonar's rewire doesn't work so again why bother with them posting here. I don't think many people here use any Props or Ableton products anyway. I am sure a lot of people here would use a guitar amp simulation. I would even encourage Obi to post this on the Live forums and to hook up with Propellerhead to maybe make an Amplitube Rack Extension.

I've got nothing against anyone, and I mean anyone, coming in and sayin' "Cool new stuff" check it out.

http://www.cakewalk.com/

And answering any questions that might be raised afterward.

That ain't what this is tho.

The reason you'll see IK getting so much flak is because they are one of, if not THE most aggressive spammers on the net in the industry.  That's their policy, they employ social media strategists as Obi pointed out it's his job and it probably works for them in balance between those that buy product and those like me that wont because of that policy.  Good luck to them.

But this is a community, Cakewalk's community and it is against Cakewalk's explicit Terms of Service WRT to spam, hence the report.

Check out how many places our very own good ol' cuddly Obi inhabits and check out all his posts on his profile.  Is that the community input here that you want to see become the norm?

Because that's what it would look like if it became a free-for-all.  They might at least offer Cakewalk some return for the ad space.

I'm qute happy for everyone else to be happy for Obi to be here, so why not let me be?  I didn't want to make any further comment because I've said what I thought about it so I'd rather you didn't invite me to comment further, as I'd only be repeating myself.

It's spam I personally don't like it, it's against the TOS so it's been reported by me.

The rest is down to Cakewalk to call.
