I feel the time for mourning has past. Be it Noel or somebody else, we deserve to know the way forward. If the party's truly over we should be getting info on how we can secure our investment.

If any of the mods can still contact Cakewalk I encourage them to do so. We need license activation codes and this continued silence is BS. Perhaps it's time for anger instead of pity. My work space is full of orphaned software and hardware that says Cakewalk on it. I feel it's time to wrap it up.

What do you think?

Last I heard was that the plan is when/if the servers go down (which is not imminent in any way... supposedly and I believe 'em) that all registered users will receive a reg code they can use for new installs without having to access the servers.

I'm fine with that.

In the meantime though I need to get off my arse and download all the updates since Manchester... which I am STILL on because it's been working fine for what I've been doing.

That's goan be a big download. lulz

Why was this moved to the coffee house? I believe this was a legitimate SONAR question. It may be the only legitimate SONAR question left.

I agree it should not have been moved, since the description of the Sonar forum is "Discussion focused on the use of SONAR software." If talking about the activation codes that we'll eventually need to launch the program doesn't fall under that description then I don't know what does. It should be moved back.

I think the reason why people are worried is that by the time the servers eventually go down, we have no guarantee that there will even be anyone around to give us those activation codes. Who knows what card Gibson is going to play next. Can we really trust them to do the right thing? Giving us the codes now would be insurance against that eventuality.

Having said that, it could be that the reason why Cakewalk doesn't want to give us the codes now is because they are still holding out for a solution to keep Sonar going.

Yeah. Thing is this is all still rather fresh. I'm sure something is going on in the background that just can't be discussed yet.

It's also why haven't abandoned this place yet (even though I've been pretty useless lately aside from maybe some giggles).

Ain't over...

I am concerned myself. I understand Cakewalk needs time to put together a plan but its been almost 4 weeks now.
This is BS.

Oh, ya. I'm pretty verklemmt about the entire matter as well and think it is REALLY crummy (and possibly calculated by Gibson) timing. Right at the holidays.

That's cold, man.

However I honestly think there are certain Bakers who give enough of a crap to make sure we can at least use SONAR as a legacy product.

Cheers.

My initial plan was to use SONAR until it doesn't work anymore.

My new plan has quickly become use SONAR until I can get all my projects moved over to Reaper, then leave SONAR on the shelf as a nostalgic conversation piece.

That's the only way I'll feel comfortable at this point.
