I highly suspect this was moved because Gibson is dictating everything and no one at CW can answer this. They are probably reeling because they didn't realize the aftershock of this decision, even among non-SONAR users. It will give everyone insight on what it means to do business with Gibson, including those who have the ability to bail them out. Karma is a wonderful thing.

...its been almost 4 weeks now.

In fact it was 4 weeks this past Friday; exactly 30 days today.

Why was this moved to the coffee house? I believe this was a legitimate SONAR question. It may be the only legitimate SONAR question left.

I think at this stage of the endgame, it might be a good idea for the host that moves these kind of threads to at least let us know why.

The forum rules seem to have changed a little so at least if we were informed where we were supposed to post specific topics that might help a little.

Mind you, moving threads like this away from the SONAR forum seems to me a bit like sweeping the problem under the carpet. Paying customers are rightly concerned, and to have their concerns scuttled away by other paying customers just doesn't sit right with me. This shouldn't be the time for hosts to start pulling rank on their peers.

At least give us a little confidence in your actions by letting us know that you are moving these threads under instructions from either a Cakewalk or a Gibson employee.

I didn't move this one, so no flaming me for it please.

The forum rules haven't changed, just the use the forum is being put to.
There's a lot of very understandable complaining, but the primary function of the forum (while Sonar is still being used) should remain as a place for those that require help with Sonar and related issues.

During the first few days post-announcement, the Sonar forum quickly filled with headless chicken posts (again, understandably) at which point a Cakewalk employee stepped in and moved them.  He was very heavy handed and indiscriminant.
We are simply doing what we've done for the past 3 years and moping the floors, cleaning the tables and tidying the empty glasses.  If that means moving threads that have been answered over and over to keep the forum clear for help requests, then they'll be moved.

Which has nothing to do with this thread. As others have pointed out, it is really the only question of universal concern and is far from answered. You can't really write something fundamentally wrong and inflammatory and expect not to be flamed in return, lest this place start to sound like a Whitehouse press briefing:)

Once again, the stated purpose of the Sonar forum is "Discussion focused on the use of SONAR software." Surely the installation and activation of the software falls under that umbrella.

I don't want to sound cold but this is an issue. I could understand hearing nothing for a week. But then it gets to be the holidays and people think we'll hear something after the holidays. Then it's maybe the new year, and so on. When my father died I got 3 days off work for bereavement.

The point is, as a current user and lifetime member, I'd like an update from somebody with facts, not opinions and or theories. It's time, we deserve some information. This should be front and centre along with the announcement, so people will know we're waiting.

if the Cakewalk team knew the plan I think they'd tell us. But if it's true Gibson shut them down abruptly, without warning, I doubt they know what is going on even now

can't believe such a cool thing is being killed off- It's like the freaking delorean! :)

I had a look at noel's twitter account just now to see if there is anything new and he has actually just changed his background picture to some cakewalk sonar branded drumsticks so he hasn't discarded sonar totally from his life :)
