This little software tool from Steve Duda, half of the "deadmouse"...pardon my spelling,  phenomena and the BFD, FXPansion lines and it looks quite wonderful.  A must have in fact.  Too bad I (and you apparently, as well) missed it when it could be had for as little as $10 bucks and then $25 bucks.  But even at $49 semolians I think it's still a bargain.  I'm just deciding exactly HOW I want to purchase it.  Apparently GuitarCenter is due to be carrying it soon (the apparent reason for it's doubling in price) or you can get it through PayPal directly from www. xferrecords.com.  It's kind of like having several of the SoundToys plugins all in one easy to use interface and at a fraction of the cost.  Check it out on YouTube for yourself.  Too late for me.  I'm in.  As per usual.

You need counseling.

Not as much as he needs plug-ins apparently...

I've been constantly playing with the Dual LFO that just came with the latest Reason update and I must say it's not something that would have interested me enough to buy, but once you start getting to grips with the usefulness of it I'm starting to think why didn't I get something like this before.

I'm starting to realise what Stevie Winwood was doing with all his hardware boxes back in the day and where some of the sounds that won him so many sessions came from.

I indeed DO need counseling:-)  But you need to at least check out what this little dandy will do.  The ease and intuitiveness of the GUI is also a big plus...as is the price.  Anywhoo...I just calls em as I sees em.  YMMV.

By the by, it may or may not interest you to know that since one of the many things we do here to actually earn a living entails fixing and enhancing other folks pitiful little mixes (bless their hearts) with better sounds, better FX and better mixes that all these "plugins" I purchase are tax deductable...so, really, I'd be "crazier" not to take advantage of them.

Could I really show my ignorance here - what exactly does it do and why can't I use a product or a combination of products that I already have?
Thanks in advance
Nigel

It actually does look like it would be fun. I know I get a lot of use out of Pancake, and that's just a panner. I'd have happily added it to the toolbox for $10. Where were you then, my ol' pal?

Nigel, what it is is an LFO whose shape is user-definable, and can be applied in several ways: filters, panning, and volume. I don't know what the "var" modulator does, though. ol'pal?

Here's a link to one of the better tutorials of LFO Tool.

The latest version (free update to all owners) has 80 different filter types and midi drag drop among several other new features and GUI.  While it's geared to EDM type stuff I can see many great uses for it.  And even at $49 it's still very reasonably priced IMHO.

Thanks I am enlightened! Actually looks quite fun and I don't think I have anything particularly like this, so who knows one day I might get one
Cheers
Nigel
