ST works for me but I stopped using it. I'm tired of straining my eyes to read that itty bitty gui.

The thing I HATE about ST is that all the sounds are clumbsy as in they are not organized very well. You have to search for a long time till you find a sound you want. Stack that on top of a itty bitty gui and who cares? Sad.....

Same here.  I bought into the recent group buy.  All of the VSTs are stable in my 64bit system.  I am generally pleased that I found some new sounds / samples that are better than the ones I was using in a couple of projects.  But that tiny GUI is a real pain.  Seems like many VST designers think that people using advanced DAWs are running them on last generation monitors set for 640x480 resolution.  On my monitor the Sample Tank GUI is so small I find myself leaning forward to try and read the settings. 

This is what happens when a company chooses to spend the hard-earned money you send them on licensing deals with already mega-rich superstars instead of updating their crusty old back-catalogue.

Call it marketing over-spend in preference of concern toward products and existing customers.

It's how they seem to roll some firms.  It's become a consumer marketplace.

Don't complain that your stuff don't get updated, rejoice in the fact that you've bought everyones favourite guitar hero a new Rolls Royce.

I went to IK's web site to check out the sonik synth deal. I noticed down one side they had a list of 13 featured products. 11 of them were i apps and the others were just add ons for existing products.

I decided that I wasn't going to support them any more and deleted anything IK off my machine. I mean, really? something new for sample tank is like buying a new font collection for Wordstar. A new sound collection exclusively licensed from a guy who's more famous for his hat than his guitar chops.

And the trend seems to be letting the PC users pay big money for an app that they sell for a fraction of the price to the igeneration. I'm done with them. No one wants to be the best anymore, they only want to be the richest.

did you ever get an answer on that?
im not really sure what you were talking about but it sure did scare me away from ant of their products.
was it spyware or something?

im not really sure what you were talking about but it sure did scare me away from ant of their products.

Yes, they confirmed that the files were from their installer, and were required for the authorisation process, they said they were innocuous, but didn't elaborate on what they actually did.

I'm not against copy-protection, but this stuff installs files that are named like system files in sensitive locations which is a bit bogus.

i couldnt agree with you more.
that isnt right.
i cant understand why some of their plug ins needs to install flash player,i tihnk its flash player,ive declined it everytime and never had an issue.

I have found that the ST stuff almost always sits so well in any mix. The GUI is terrible, but musical usability wins for me. Never had any issues with ST not loading properly. Now, Kontakt, that is a completely different story....

Got that Sonik Synth for $29 yesterday. Some repeats of stuff from ST, but lots of goodness.
