I heard last night that a friend of 35 years standing has suddenly passed away, the funeral is tomorrow.

Brian was a lovely chap who worked for the same company for over 40 years.

We used to go on holiday, along with several other people, back in the late 70's, early 80's.

Sad, sad day, and a tangible reminder of my own mortality.
