Ha!  The funny thing for me is that I usually never saw the bands I liked - it was only a listening thing.

Others that may or might not be similar that I have include Sisters of Mercy, Smiths, Depeche Mode, Joy Division, Electronic, Lunar Crush (the original - not the jazz fusion one), New Order, Psychedelic Furs, etc., etc.!

Got any others along that same vein that I just might not have heard of?

Regardless of how many albums I have, I've learned that there are always others out there that are completely new to me!

If I may butt in ......  ( I guess I just did anyway! )

Here's some examples of my favourites from that period / style (ish) ....  maybe nothing new here for you.....no idea if they made it across the pond or not....

http://youtu.be/-2up4WUQod0     The Mission

http://youtu.be/8I8mWG6HlmU     The Cult

http://youtu.be/_LGZzVo0A8U       The Damned - from the album Phantasmagoria which was kind of frowned upon by die hard fans, but not being a particular fam of their other stuff, I thought it was great. Also one of my all-time  favourite album cover pics.

Go ahead and butt in!

(And, yep, I've got all of those!  BTW - Over "here" the Mission is called the Mission UK for some reason.)

How about something a bit more industrial?  I've got all of albums from Machines Of Loving Grace and wish they had more...

HERE is their most well-known song.

(Edit:  Oops!  Looks like I did mention them before, oh well, now you have a song link too. ;-)

Again, nothing particulary obscure or revealing I guess, but some more faves of mine........

 http://youtu.be/lzoW9SY541s   ......anything from this album

and a bit of a departure in terms of style, but I always loved this Furs re-mix, much better than the original, this was the soundtrack to my life back in the day...... http://youtu.be/J-I6x-tP3nk

Ok, you guys can go back to your obscure / artsy stuff talk now.....thanks for reminding me of some stuff I need to dig out again anyway !

Been listening to a few of the above mentioned bands (got a lot to still explore though - this is fun!).

I've had Killing Joke on all night and I've really been enjoying what I've heard with the only exception being some of the vocals (especially the rough kind with the "colorful" language - I can do without those).  On their self-titled album I really like the guitar tones!

You know, I rarely pay attention to lyrics and if they bother me, I switch my brain back to french, so I zon't unzerstand. ;)

But yeah, I know what you mean.
