I ain't bitin' but if you've been lookin', I don't think it will get any cheeper. I keep hearing something about 0ms latency with it.

I don't believe anything claiming 0ms (unless it's on bypass!).

Just sayin'...

From somewhere else on the internet...

"...with the memory caching, super low latency, _____ and all the others better be watching these guys really close. If you get the demo of it, just be ready to pay the money for it. Once you start using it and hear how good it sounds, and how fluid everything is, you won't want to go back to ______ or _____.  It is that good. I see the benefit to VST3 now. I'm using _____'s  Free plugin's which are VST3 ... it's like you are moving a knob on a analog piece of gear, it's that smooth and transparent. No glitches, no pauses, no hiccups. And all this on a DAW that _____ brought to it's knees.
It even overrides the buffer settings on my sound card and let's me go lower than it's capable of ... and it works!"
(slightly edited not for content). responsibility for the quote is mine.

I, personally have not tried it but if I had the money, I'd check it out... I have too much $ invested in Cakewalk to "walk"... but what is wrong with using a couple of different DAWs, I imagine a LOT of users do. I just think that this is really interesting.

That's the typical newly converted fanboy speech.

I've used it on and off for 2 years. Latency was as good as Logic - nor better nor worse. Under heavier load, Logic was still more responsive. So even more fluid, if anything.

There are a lot of thing to like about S1, but it still must abide to the rules of physics and informatics. There is no miracle, there.

That being said, at least from my 10 years using it, Sonar was always kind of an exception in terms of responsiveness and real time reaction vs glitches and hiccups. The only thing worst I've worked w/ in recent years was Pro Tools native.

Logic, Cubase, Studio One and most of the others by all accounts, are all pretty snappy. They have different flaws or shortcomings, that's all.

Too bad you can't take parts of this one and that one and combine them huh. Well, I am happy enough and am an optimist, I expect things to improve... then I remember the song from Sgt. Peppers.. Getting Better...

It's getting better all the time, better, better, better ... (then John throws in "it can't get no worse") lol.

Nothing beats being fluent w/ your software, if you've picked the right one for you to begin w/. No amount of features will top that. Though we certainly appreciate them when they are integrated into our DAW software.

I've mentioned it in the main forum before - my brother-in-law runs a pro studio on a + 10 years old Mac G4 running Pro Tools 5.x. In spite of the absence of offline bounce and all the newer features found in most DAW software these days, his productions rival anything out there and he works blazing fast because he knows his DAW like the back of his hand.
