I actually owned the RedWirez impulses before I bought S-Gear. I used them w/ other amp sims. They're absolutely terrific, imho. No matter what I use for the actual amp sim part be it Amplitube, POD Farm or my POD, most of the time I'll bypass the plug-in's cab simulation and use a combination of RedWirez impulses instead.

I didn't have much chance to create custom set-ups in S-Gear but I've tried a different RedWirez Marshall cab impulses w/ it and it sounded and worked as expected.

Had to choose between this and Slate FG-X for economical reasons. I chose S-Gear and it really sounds excellent. Every bit as good as the sound examples on the website.

Rain:  Thanks for the info.  I just bought 5 sets of RedWirez impulses for Roland AC120, Twin Jensen C12Ns, Twin D120s, TweedDeluxe P12r and DeluxeRev12k56.  These really added what I need to make the Duke a great Jazz amp.  It was already a great blues and fusion amp, but the AC120 and the Twin Jensen C12Ns in particular just sound amazing with the Duke.  This was well worth the meager and very attractive price.  I HIGHLY recommend this.  My only concern is that S-gear limits the number of user impulses and now I have to go through and sort out which individual mics and cone placements I want to keep loaded in my User impulse area.  I don't need the intire RedWirez Big Cab impulses, and luckily you can just buy one or two, I bought 5.  Thankns again Rain.  This was great!

Laney:  Thanks for the heads up on v.2.02.  Just downloaded it today.

I use Redwirez and another great set that many use is Ownhammer. They provide top drawer impulses too in various formats. http://www.ownhammer.com/

You can buy the lot for buttons.

Thanks for this link--will definitely look at it.

One more comment about RedWirez cab impulse and S-Gear.  I loaded the Twin Jensen C12N cab impulse with AKG C414, 1 inch from cone position, cranked the Duke first with clean, then with overdrive on, and oh my, oh my, oh my, I have found it, yes this is the "holy grail" of blues amps.  Cranked clean or overdriven, it maintains transparency and yet breaks up with creamy overtones and gorgeous sustain.  I threw the 335 at it and it was amazing, then the strat and wow the chime and the crunch.  Why S-Gear didn't come with this cab I don't know, but it is "to die for" delightful.  So, then I switched from the Duke to the Stealer, and I unleashed a sizziling tone that was every bit as delightful as the Duke but more like a vintage plexi.  This is it.   My jar actually dropped when I heard this combination.  For the record, I did try it also with the Jackal, but it did not work so well.  If you have S-Gear and youv'e got a spare $9, go to RedWirez and get the Twin Jensen C12N; it adds so much to an already fantastic amp sim.

How does the CPU hit compare with Amplitube? I usually use the Fender package, but this does sound very nice.

It's great all round. It's not demanding. Just buy it, craigfowler. It's the tone.

No cpu problems here with either.
There's a 15 day demo- check it out.

It is not demanding at all on my machine; maybe 1 % if that.  If that is an issue, you should know that there is an "eco" button on S=Gear that allows it to run in a CPU lite version.  I have never needed to run it in such.  Also, I have Amplitube Fender and love it, but the combination of S-Gear's Duke cranked with that addon cabinet (Twin Jensen C12N which is $9 from RedWirez) is something that is just unbelievable from an amp sim; it breaksup in a way that is so pretty and yet maintains pickup transparency.  There is a demo of S-Gear, but not one of the RedWirez cab.  So if you demo the S-Gear you will hear it, but not with that additional speaker.  BTW that add on cab comes with 17 different mics and 20+ cone positions(a cap, at cap corner, at cone, at cone edge, and 1 inch increments away from each) making it easy to get the perfect sound, but I just used the 1 inch from cone and loved it.  Here is S-Gear's page: http://www.scuffhamamps.com/product/overview  Go try the demo.
