Beauty and sound are in the eyes and ears of those that must decide for themselves. I must decide that ... I will not get the British Bundle and will stick with what I already have. Alas, I have already made a few purchasing blunders, finding out only too late that the promise of great things is not always as great as promised.

I find it interesting that yorolpal finds the compressor and EQ OK and others not. I am not that interested in the EQ, more the compressor.

Is it because people are not setting up the compressor the right way or does it just alter the sound in a bad way. Or for those of you that don't like the compressor, you spent many hours trying all settings and just never getting a great sound out of it or more to the point did not like how it compresses.

I am curious to find out why people do not like it so much. Got to be OK for $10 though!

Demos are no indication either. I have heard plenty of bad demos that if I had based my decision on I may not have bought something. But instead I did buy it and got great results from that very thing.

well, I think a decision is based on a lot of things. But if you were, for instance, to buy a vacuum cleaner that was on sale that did not seem to visibly clean the house, what are you getting?

Similarly, I look at software demos being conducted by the software developers who - I assume - know best how to show off the capabilities of their own software; and, if they don't make a convincing demonstration that their compressor is compressing and effecting the sound effectively, and noticeably so,... what is it that would persuade me to buy it, even if its selling for 20 dollars, or just 1 dollar?

Many of us don't have money to just throw around on anything that is called a sale just for the sake of the sale alone. We want to buy a product because we think that there will be a distinct advantage and use for our buying the software, obviously. Someone or something must first convince us that we should want to buy something before we actually buy it.

I was not convinced that my 20 dollars was getting me anything worthwhile that I didn't already have or want.

Don't get fooled by the price of $20 deal. Normal price is USD $149.00.

Nomad Factory British Bundle EQ and COMPRESSOR sounds really good and has a very rich tone and character sound. Activate the "Vintage Button" and you will see what I mean.

The Nomad Factory are a recreation of the original the NEVE 2254 MASTER compressor and limiter. Designed in 1969, the original Neve 2254 Limiter/Compressor unit quickly became a legend. Discrete, Class A design and transformer-coupled circuits – used in the input, innovative bridge-driver design, sidechain and output stages ensured a totally unique sound. The original 2254 units are still sought after, decades after production stopped, and they remain one of the milestone pieces of studio equipment.

Thanks Freddie I appreciate your input. It looks good to me too. It looks like one of those things you need to know how to operate properly and probably spend a fair bit of time getting to know.

I am about to master a hip hop album and thought I might give it a shot as the main compressor in between the Pultec EQ (which might I add sounds bloody excellent!) and my PSP Xenon limiter which is also a serious piece of technology. The client is wanting to give the music a slight retro vibe and this thing could be just the ticket.

That's what makes a horse race.  I like both the eq and the compressor. Go figure.

Plus the OP asked if they were worth it. I still say they are well worth ten bucks apiece. Geeze Louise.
You are of course correct in that the OP was asking "if it is worth it".  Rethinking this, I would agree with you, yes it is certainly worth $20, if not more.  I did correct/edit my post to say "To be fair, I am comparing it to UAD and Wave's; perhaps if I didn't have them, I might have more interest in NF's version." My opinion of it was perhaps a bit hasty.  As I vaguely recall I bought the British Bundle as part of that big holiday sale from NF with the Integral Studio Pack 3, and unfortunately got it within days of getting the Waves and the UAD Neves.  I played with the NEQ-1972 for a few hours but kept going back to the Waves and the UAD Neves.  The NF Pultec and the Magnetic were the two components of that NF sale that I was impressed with, do remember, and continue to use.

Jeff Evans--As I mentioned above, I bought the Brittish Bundle back at Christmans and back then I was focusing on the EQ component, the NEQ-1972 and comparing it to the Waves and the UAD; I honestly do not even recall if I like the MLC2269 Compressor or not.  I just know that I have not used it at all since December.

This discussion, and the fact that our friend yorolpal likes it and indeed defends it value, encourages me to try to take fresh listen to it.  A couple of weeks ago I was deleting and rearranging my plugin layouts in Sonar's Plugin Manager, and I do recall that I did keep the NEQ-1972 in my EQ folder as I kept the MLC2269 in my Compressor folder; I did not throw them out so I must have thought I might use them one day.  I will keep an open mind and take another look.   Thanks for this.

Hi Jeff and you are welcome my friend!

If you looking for fantastic Mastering TOOLS  I would recommend you check out Analog Mastering Tools from Nomad Factory.
Its extremely transparent better then both Waves L3 and iZotope Ozone that actually sounds very good too.
You will be surprised how good it sounds. It comes with no latency too so what more can you ask for..

If you like it and you need it then it's worth it. Personally, I stick L'Oreal on every track. Because they're worth it.

I just like a lot of colors in my coloring box.  And every tool requires learning how best to use it.  Plus, I'd say that a good engineer/mixer can take almost any decent eq or compressor and accomplish great things.  Do you NEED it?  Who knows?  At $20 bucks is it a useful piece of kit?  Absolutely.  But I (like Freddie, apparently) am a Nomad fan.  YMMV.
