When I played with Black Comedy we did some gigs with a band called Mencea - brutal stuff - and they had some pretty awesome things going on which I thought was a synth. Turned out to be the guy they said played synths and samples was actually using a guitar, an eBow and a million stompboxes to create some huge atmospheric parts in addition to synths. It sounded weird but really awesome. Don't think it was the most advanced use of an eBow but it sounded great!
