Is there anyway to get the full version of Kontakt (without stealing it which I would never do) cheap?
I really want the Indiginus Acoustic Guitar Collection but you have to have the full version of Kontakt 5. I don't have the $500 to buy Komplete.
Also, is there another reasonably priced option I'm missing for Acoustic Guitars (mainly strumming) apart from learning to play guitar?
Thanks

Daryl, check out the MarketPlace at KVR as there might be someone who may want to sell this. You can put an ad there "Wanted to Buy" as well. Only thing is Kontakt5 is fairly new, so there may not be too many for sale.

I've got some great deals (close to 50% off the regular price) over there....including Alchemy and Battery3.

Indiginus Acoustic Guitars is on my radar as well.

Watch out for deals.

I got my Kontakt like this. $20 no brainer on Steven Slate EX at Audio Midi, that qualified me for a crossgrade, which I bought when NI had a half price crossgrade off. $149 IIRC.

Yep, crossgrade is a good way to go. So are older versions, which a lot of people still have. Secondhand is not a bad way too. And sale time is usually July as they tend to do major releases in September.

The second-hand route should be a viable option, with caveats.

In the past, NI has been very successful at coercing users into upgrading, resulting in lots of redundant versions of Kontakt on people's machines. I have versions 2, 3 and 4 on mine.

You'll always need the latest version to use any current NI libraries - that's their secret to forced upgrades - but third-party developers tend to lag behind so as not to unnecessarily narrow their market. Consequently, many third-party libraries are compatible with versions 3.5 and 4.2, and many go back to version 2.

The Indiginus stuff requires Kontakt 4.2, which is going to be harder to find because so many 4.2 users did not upgrade to 5. Kontakt 3.5, however, is easier to find, and there are a number of acoustic guitar libraries that will work under 3.5. For example, Pettinhouse has a good one that runs under older versions of Kontakt. (Video)

The downside to buying Kontakt second-hand is you'll be stuck with that version - no upgrade discounts - and whatever libraries you can find today that work with it. Over time, there will be fewer compatible libraries. Don't worry about lack of support from NI, it's nonexistent anyway.

You can upgrade, bit. It's treated like you bought it. No restrictions.
