IIRC the ban was for two weeks.

I can confirm that we have not surgically targeted Bub's cellphone or his open web access. The forum software simply does not have that capability and we have no intentions of ever doing such things to him or other end users.

I only found out about Seth's reply because a couple of people emailed it to me ...

"I can confirm that we have not surgically targeted Bub's cellphone or his open web access. The forum software simply does not have that capability and we have no intentions of ever doing such things to him or other end users."

The forum software may not have it built in, but it's very easy for a person to go in and do it. It's not very hard to trace an IP or MAC, especially one with GPS enabled, and see exactly where the IP/MAC is going. I would imagine you don't have too many customers in Peculiar Missouri, living at the address you have on file for me? You should only have 1. Me. I gave the Webmaster my home address and phone number when I emailed him to see why I was banned. In hindsight ... bad idea I guess.

All I can tell you Seth, is ... the morning I was banned, I didn't even know it. You guys didn't even have the decency to tell me why or for how long. I still haven't been notified and I've contacted the webmaster twice. No response.

I was logged on to the forum and I started getting a web page error that said I had to contact the site admin. I waited a while and still got the error, so I emailed one of the forum members to ask if the forum was down and he said it was not.

I tried to view the forum from my phone, which is on a completely different ISP than my home network, and I could view the forum and saw I was banned. I was reading the forum the next day, got called away, and sat my phone down with the web page up for about an hour. I came back and when I pulled up the browser, I was getting the same exact message on my cell phone that I was getting over my home network. Two completely separate networks.

I tried it on my wife's phone when she got home from work that night, which is on the same 3G network as my phone (same make/model phone) and I was able to view the forum.

You already blocked me on my home ISP, so I don't understand why you feel it's so far fetched that you would block my cell phone's access ... there's absolutely no difference really other than the fact someone has to do a trace ... which takes all of 15 seconds. Here's what probably happened ... someone saw an IP address sitting on your forum for an hour on one thread, they traced it, saw it was me, and you blocked me. And it's not like I can even log on to the forum at all from my phone. I mentioned this before all of this happened ... your forum software won't accept the 4 digit verification code when I enter it from my phone .... so it's not like I can 'sneak' in on you.

It's not even about the banning. Honestly, I could care less about that. It's completely about how you handled it. Man, if you put as much effort in to Sonar as you did in to blocking me from viewing your forum, maybe the forum wouldn't be so heated in the first place.

If you want to discuss it further Seth, feel free to contact me. You have my phone number and 2 email addresses.

Anyway ... thanks.

Bye

Like many of us, I don't know the details about these events.  If Bub was band without notification or explanation, that seems pretty harsh.  If that happened to me, I don't know that I would come back.  (I know, now everyone's excited about the possibilities.)

I appreciate the fact that the Cakewalk moderators typically allow us a fair amount of latitude.  We know that other companies might not tolerate some of the things we say and do here in these forums.  I appreciate the fact that moderators already have day jobs and policing the forum may not be their favorite activity.

I know some of us have been band in the past, so they may have a different perspective than I do.  (Insert honourable mention here.)  I don't know exactly how this process works, but I would hope that Cakewalk would provide notification and/or an explanation to the one being band.

I hope we see Bub come back again someday.  I understand if he doesn't feel welcome, but I hope he does drop in sometime.  We'll keep a chair open.

Bub's phone was not specifically targeted for a ban. There was no special back trace. There is no conspiracy.

Oh sure...next you'll be telling us that the moon landing was "real", that there wasn't a man on the grassy knoll, that the Rosenbergs were innocent, that Bruno Hauptman was framed for the Lindbergh kidnapping and that flouridation of our water supply IS NOT a giant communist conspiracy to sap and impurify our precious bodily fluids.  Sheesh:-)

Why are the aliens blocking Bub's cell phone access?

And who/what else might they be blocking?
