I'm a big proponent of toxic chemicals.  The right tool for the right job ...as they say.

We get invaded in the spring and sometimes in the fall with ants. Usually in the kitchen and bathroom. I think they look for food and water.... so I provide them with some terro liquid bait.... and keep them well fed... until they are all dead. they eat, return to the colony and feed the colony. It takes a few days but it works.

When I get pizzed at having to deal with so many for a longer period..... RAID in a can. but I try not to use that stuff in my house.

Spray around the outside foundation walls, under the house as far as you can get, and good luck.

If they are eating you at night, you might want to make it harder for them to find you..... hammock, or if that's not possible, spray the bed legs with toxic chems.  The sauce pan idea above is good but fill it with something a bit more repellent than water. Ants will float in it and drown to build a bridge to the food supply.... YOU. Make them work for the meal.

Another option: slather on the DEET before bed time. It works, but the idea of letting that stuff soak in for 8 hours is not appealing. But then again, neither is waking up to hundreds of bites.

The Maillard Reaction

I'll bet Dave can score a kilo of name brand DDT down in Indonesia.

:-)

Those ants are probably already immune to it.

Holy Crap Bit-

Have any Skin So Soft?-Maybe soak yourself in it

+1 to this! He probably doesn't have it where he is though. Skin So Soft is one of the most incredible products ever made by Avon...and probably the only one worth mentioning in their entire line. That stuff not only gives you skin like a chick (lol) it repels just about everything. Mosquitos, green head flies, bees, gnats, it truly is amazing. When I go out on my boat, we have huge green head flies that are just unforgiving in the Atlantic County bay, ocean etc. They land on you and bite like a bee and leave a welt that you'll never forget. A little SSS and they don't even come near you.

Hold on bit, my dad had a few bouts with these things when he was in the army....he just stopped by the studio to bring me breakfast...let me ask him...

He said:

"in our day, we just didn't sleep on the ground or anywhere near those things once we knew they existed. One time we were on a long shift and we're so tired, we all just laid down on the ground not knowing about those ants at the time. Less than 30 seconds later we were all feeling pain on our neck, back, legs etc. There were thousands of them attacking the entire company. They left welts all over and all the army gave us was this ointment which fixed us up but didn't repel them. From there on out, we slept while sitting in the back of one of those big trucks called "a deuce and a half" because none of us wanted to get bitten by those things EVER again! Tell your friend I feel for him...those lil baystids drove us nuts! If I would have been a flame thrower, I would have torched that entire area."

So...he didn't have any answer either, sorry to say. :(

1st - I must say I've always suspected Danny of being an Avon Rep!

2nd - I know that those insects are controlled remotely by ALIENS!
