I'm a big proponent of toxic chemicals. The right tool for the right job ...as they say.
We get invaded in the spring and sometimes in the fall with ants. Usually in the kitchen and bathroom. I think they look for food and water.... so I provide them with some terro liquid bait.... and keep them well fed... until they are all dead. they eat, return to the colony and feed the colony. It takes a few days but it works.
When I get pizzed at having to deal with so many for a longer period..... RAID in a can. but I try not to use that stuff in my house.
Spray around the outside foundation walls, under the house as far as you can get, and good luck.
If they are eating you at night, you might want to make it harder for them to find you..... hammock, or if that's not possible, spray the bed legs with toxic chems. The sauce pan idea above is good but fill it with something a bit more repellent than water. Ants will float in it and drown to build a bridge to the food supply.... YOU. Make them work for the meal.
Another option: slather on the DEET before bed time. It works, but the idea of letting that stuff soak in for 8 hours is not appealing. But then again, neither is waking up to hundreds of bites.
