But NObody ,other than Danni offered a solution, and then you make big joke on skin so soft...
I thought the CH was the answer to everything...

Hey Bit if its any help, we will have Mega Mosquitos the size of a small bird(ok maybe not that big) invaiding us this summer, they are in Florida now and lay eggs in SWAMPY areas..
there is no repellant known yet...

Just a small FYI...  Ants won't walk on talcum powder so you can put rings around your bed posts with some (my friend used to put them near door entrances and window sills too).

Thanks for the advice and moral support, guys. Especially strummy`s inspirational story.
I did consult the locals, but it appears this is strictly one of those "white peoples` problems". No one else seems to be bothered by them. The ants appear to be attracted specifically to *my* blood. Sometimes you just feel like having some foreign food, I guess.
The ants had been drawn by blood. They`d been clustered around a fresh skin scrape on my ankle. That`s begun to heal now so maybe isn't as much of an allure. At least, I don`t appear to have any fresh bites this morning. But jeez, do they itch!

It's not the little ones you have to worry about.

ZactLy! I stopped using water to take a bath years ago and now ONLY use talcum powder! I haven't been attacked by ants since!

Do I dare ask how Danny knows so much abut Avon products?

;)

Ok, ok, I cannot tell a lie. I dated a girl once that sold Avon on the side. She'd test the products out and I'd yell and complain she smelt terrible and I'd rather her go out and sweat for 3 hours in the heat over wearing some of that stuff!

One day, after coming home from being on my boat, I was all welted up and she says "Skin So Soft will repel those things!" I smelled it, and it didn't smell bad at all...and made my skin as soft as a new born baby. That scared me a little, but hey, if it stops those Green Heads from beating me up, I'm all for it! :)

I came to find out there were other "repel" type things this stuff did as far as insects go. It was also good at night when the skeeters came out. Better than smelling like "Off" or burning those Citrinella (or however you spell that) candles that smell so bad. Honest that's the truth! :)

Bit... if this continues let me know. I have been an exterminator since the early 60s with my dad. I can easily get in touch with an entymologist,I know several, who can ID the ants and tell you  what to do if you still need it.
Personally  I've never run into a problem where the anys were attacking a person... that can be serious, well it is serious, more or less so according to what ant it is.
