Thanks Jim, appreciate your help.

Glad all is well...

I had a half hour phone consultation with Jim yesterday and he ironed out some of the niggles i've had with my new system. A well spent $40 and a most friendly and pleasant transaction. The machine is running like a beast!
Well, good for you. Care to pass along any tips in case others similarly situated might benefit? Not taking anything away from Jim, he and Scott and others "in the biz" offer advice here all the time, but you'd asked for and received advice here from a number of folks, so by all means feel free...

FWIW, I try to share substantial helpful information here...
But the substance of a specific consultation is something we consider confidential.
Hope you understand...

Haha, "FWIW". Ha, that's a good one. You mean like this substantial helpful information you shared here a while ago when someone solicited advice on a proposed build:

FWIW, I wouldn't use that motherboard, RAM, and stock CPU cooler.

Best Regards,

Jim Roseberry

So, "FWIW"means anybody wants to know what you wouldn't use, that's free. But anybody wants to know what you would use, that's gonna cost 'em and they gotta sign a  non-disclosure agreement first.
Right, I understand.

What, exactly,  is your problem? Jim is a great guy and is very helpful. People DO make a choice to use his services, you know?

Oh, I'd be very happy to tell you exactly what is my problem.

But it's gonna cost ya, and you have to keep it confidential. You got a credit card or paypal account?

And btw, my hourly rate is a whole lot more than Jim's.

I think most of us have figured out what your problem is for free.

It's amazing that someone wants to be paid for their research, work and experience. Gee Jim, you're such a big jerk ;)

Well good for you. Too bad you haven't figured out how to build your own DAW yet.

But by all means, feel free to use this free forum to give free endorsement and advertising to Jim...

I built my last one myself but tech has changed alot. I'm too busy *working* to  troll around internet forums all day looking for info. (On the board tonight because I sprained my ankle and am stuck on the couch) I need my tools to get the job done, not make me feel like a big man. Having someone else build me a custom box with proven compatability parts- and my build did need extra work-install my software/samples, apply bios/os tweaks, burn in/stress test the components, make a backup file and talk me through the system. It cost me less than $100 more than my local shop would assemble one for. They wouldn't load my my DAWs and samples for me either. I also saved $99 on my audio interface over my local shops. Looks like a good deal to me. But what do I know? I'm actually a guy who uses his services...

Sure, I could have done the research on the net, tested and swapped components/coolers till I found the best one. Googled os/bios tweaks and applied them. Stress tested the system/fixed or replaced any possibly defective components. Loaded all my software, drivers, set up my audio inteface, troublshooted any problems on the net again... but you know what? I'm too busy *working* I can't explain to a client that I can't get to their music this week because I'm building a new computer to impress dudes on the internet. It would have cost me over $500 of my time to do it myself. I'd rather be making music than making a computer. It's even good math...
You don't have to pay for a cleaner either- you can do it yourself. If you are working 60-70 hours a week making good bread it makes good financial sense to pay someone else to do it rather than to lose money turning down work to clean your house.  Or you could just live with the bugs and rats...

After edit it looks like the first part of my response is actually goddards'
