The lighter your bike the livelier it feels.

I just took off 21 steel 5mm bolts and replaced them with 21 nylon plastic bolts I ordered special.

steel bolts:  962.1g

plastic bolts: 79.1g

That is an 883 grain difference.

That's a whole 2.02 ounces.

Upgrade!!!

Good times.

883... mil spec!..

If you race a bike that makes a ton 2.02 oz of sense, but if you ride for exercise, you should go buy a 32lb Walmart special and cycle with deflated tyres... now that will burn energy!

Got my first ride in on the new bike yesterday.

It made all the difference.  I rode out to a log field and hopped all the logs crossing the double track and now I can go further on down the road.

best regards,
mike

Now if you were serious about weight loss (on the bike that is) you'd have ground down all those extra bolt holes flush with the frame (less wind resistance) and made grommets to fill them with a hot glue gun.

Sometimes Mike I just don't think you show enough dedication.

I took nearly 165 lbs off my bike (that's 1550000 grains).

I dismounted and hung it up in the garage.
