@ Tom. Yes it is scarry, most of that GMO is in barley and corn both widely used in a lot of main staple foods. But I think the heavy use of pesticides is even-worse and like you said, we use to be able to wash our vegetables and fruits but that is not the case anymore. Potatoes for example; being a ground veg literally acts like a sponge soaking up all those chemicals, peeling, washing, scrubbing, rinsing and boiling for 20 minutes will not remove all those chemicals.

And already in the past several years or so there's been reports of issues with other food staples such as; Lettuce and in recent findings is suspected with causing thyroid disorders. There's also been recalls on Lettuce and Alfalfa Sprouts.

Recommend: Growing salad veggies, fruit (tomatoes) and herbs (Basil, Parsley and Gunga) at home in a greenhouse, easy enough to grow anyone with a doofus thumb can do it.

That said; @ Mooch, yes Orgasmic Organic is the way to go!

Tonight for dinner I'm baking organic russet potatoes. I like em peeled and boiled for 5 minutes (strain well) then baked at 450F in a large cast iron skillet with good quality organic olive oil. I may also like to toss in some carrots, onions, garlic (whole) and butternut pumpkin. Salt and crack pepper to taste. A very simple dish to make. A very healthy meal. Absolutely freaking delicious :)

I believe the future would be brighter if all homes made the indoor greenhouse just as an essential part of the home. And cities with hi-rise residential zones should build glass and steel pyramid vertical farms that uses no pesticides or GMO to supply the local population.

Vertical Farms: Large Pyramid shaped buildings will allow more natural light to reach each level of the building. The first two levels are retail (food markets), restaurants and administration.  The building Surrounded by natural greenbelt, gardens and outdoor eateries. Thereby no obstruction of sunlight from neighboring hi-rise buildings. Solar and Wind power for the water pumps and additional lighting (when needed.)

secrets are for a long healthy life....and what they eat. LOL    FATBACK, WHISKEY....etc...stuff

Everything in moderation, a good balanced hearty meal, fresh, organic, natural foods that include meat, veggies, dairy, fruits, cereals.

People get so obsessed with eating healthy they actually think meat is harmful, margarine is better than butter, soy is better than milk, and eating BBQ meat followed by a swig of whiskey can cause cancer.  Ha' certainly nothing wrong with bourbon steak, mash potatoes and green beans for dinner = a typical good hearty, healthy balanced meal.

Besides, I'm already too old to die young and who wants to live a long life if you're miserable anyway?  I believe whatever I eat will be used productively by my body.  Belief is everything.

<news anchor's voice>...

This just in: In a stunning reversal, the U.S. Congress just passed a bill outlawing eating.

The main senator behind the bill, Senator Barr Elopork, noted that a $10,000,000 study discovered that everyone who eats food dies, and that therefore eating should be outlawed.

He also mentioned that he was considering out lawing drinking as well, but that doing so would have adverse consequences on various lawmaker's lifestyles.

I have examined my diet and and alcohol intake and concluded I died six years three month and twenty days ago. Correction twenty one days. I forgot about sausages in the basket and a couple of pints on a pub lunch in 1987.

I have examined my eating habits and after checking all the things that have been declared "bad" for us over the years I have concluded the only thing I can eat and drink is apples and water.

Therefore I am currently drinking 12 pints of cider a day with no other food. I believe this to be an extremely healthy diet and am currently enjoying it very much.

Long live the diet.

I love that bacon you get in Europe with the little piece of ham on the end of it.
