So as expected the room I'll be working in really isn't that big, but I'll try and make the best of it. It won't be easy - there's an issue w/ 3 corners out of 4, either a door or a window, but I'll figure it out.

I am ordering a couple of packs of these (thanks again Bit) to build a few bass traps for starters and will work the rest from there on.

Now the one thing I'm trying to figure out before I go any further is - what am I going to do w/ this guy? (not a pic of the actual room, but strangely similar in fact).

If the house wasn't rented, I might have considered just putting that thing down, but that isn't an option. And I could do w/ some room for storage for gear I don't use and such.

The way I intended to place things, this will be behind my desk (which will be straight in the middle of the room).

What do I do w/ it?

One of the things I thought was to buy a carpet and hang it a few inches in front of it - I know that that's far from ideal, but a carpet can't be worst than a mirror, and I have to work w/ the house as is.

Take the doors off and store them somewhere (lean them in the garage, etc.).

That's what I did in a similar type room.

Yeh Take 'em down

Then get ya a curtian rod and a nice heavy rug to hang from it on sliders to suck up what will hit it

Put some thin cork on them (thin enough to not impede opening and closing) with mild adhesive (that can be removed with mineral spirits).

Hmm, removing them and sending them in the garage (wow, I can do that now!) and using a rug and a curtain rod to close the closet, now that sounds like something I can do. I just didn't want to have that open closet staring at me....

I suggest you get one of these instead of the rug. Nothing traps bass like pachyderm.

Yeha My thinking was to cover the opening with something nice looking, but to keep it from becoming a big noise maker while still being able to use it for storage

Hope ya find something that works for ya

Guess we'll be spending plenty of time at Lowes...

The one thing in your post that really made me tick is the curtain rod - that was the big missing part of the puzzle and so far my only idea was to use hooks in the ceiling, and w/ the weight of the rug, that would have meant a couple of them and all...

Thanks again!

One thing you can do if you cant find a strong enough curtain rod is get a  stick of 1" or 3/4" EMT pipe cut to length-

get the metal (Cup type) rod holders for closets

find some of those Heavy Duty round pinch type curtain hangers that will slide over the EMT

and your all set

Ill see if I cant find links for it for ya
