Not moving for good, just 3 weeks of relaxation and renewal. With all my back problems I considered not going this year - really not looking forward to standing in security lines - but I'm hoping the tropical heat will be therapeutic. Or maybe 16 hours on a plane will be the equivalent of a chiropractic adjustment, assuming the usual amount of trans-Pacific turbulence.
Also hoping the sequestration cuts don't start today. For those outside the U.S., or who just avoid the news, that's an automatic across-the-board spending cut by the federal government that kicks in when the political parties have been behaving badly and can't agree on a budget.
It happens today. Of course, the cuts will be made in areas most likely to cause grief to the public, such as food inspection, airport security and air traffic controllers. Long lines and departure delays are being predicted at airports. So far, congress has not volunteered to pitch in by taking a pay cut.
