I used to own a SAGA II (Sheraton knock off) and it was awesome except for the feedback which made it impossible to play live metal with. I ended up losing it to a pawn shop (stoopid stoopid stoopid). I've been looking at the cheap Epi Sheratons  for my studio but think this would be worth the extra cost because of the stereo output. That way I could mic my amp and still run line in from my Line6. Sooo... just wondering if any of you guys have tried out one of these bad boys.

I do a lot more than just metal but really aside from the live feedback problem I really like that old SAGA with distortion. It gave my chuggity chugs a lot of depth and character and obviously the lead tones were great.

Bumpity bump bump...

This guit is kind of calling out to me but I've never played one of these new Epi ES-335/Sheraton budget axes. The cost kind of worries me considering the real deal would be pushing at least 3 grand. Don't want to drop this kind of coin for a toy. Needs to be pro. Spending $300-400 on the more basic models is one thing but for this investment I'd need it to be pretty close to the real deal. I have heard a lot of good things about the new Epi archies though. 

Meh... if anyone has happened to fiddle with one or happens to get a chance to check one out next time they are in a music store I'd love to hear any opinions.

I got a good deal on a used Sheraton II a few years ago. A local elderly man traded it in. He was in the "D-Day" invasion and Battle of the Bulge. Sometimes it is good to know the history of a guitar. It adds no monitary value to the guitar, but it does add intangible value... but no,  have not played one. I did see an ad for the 50th anniversary Gibson ES-335.... When I win the lottery I will buy one, remind me and I'll buy you one too.
Beep, I am a fan of the guitars at Rondo Music, at least of the higher end models... however I've bought a couple of 100 dllar guitars that are as good as a LP studio, with P-90s to.. but...

Now and then they stock a Agile plaintop LP knockoff that has a 3/4" maple cap and just looks absolutely killer. I am always tempted but I have all the LP I need. I am down to one Classic with nickle, and a Suhr 2001 LE with P-90s. I had a 2001 LP Studio with an ebony neck and a coil tap on the neck pup but I gave my daughter her choice of the two and she now has it... that coil tap on the neck was sweet... It was on the volume control, wide open switched to a SC, roll back just a little and it went back to HB. When I got it it had a PAF Pro in the neck and a JB in the bridge. I thought the PAF Pro was too dark and switched both to PAF Classics but i still have the other pups, I may stick them in the Classic. With the maple cap I bet the PAF Pro would sing... I loved the JB in the bridge... you got me thinking... I need to do that and I need to get that S-IIout and play it some.

I have a bit of a psychic thing going on too but it's usually mundane crap and I've never dreamed about winning the lotto.

In fact I really suck at gambling. Anytime I try it I'll win my money back once or twice then lose... like the universe is telling me "look... we don't want to screw ya here but if you're too stupid to just accept you aren't gonna win anything we're keeping your five bucks". lol

I might start tossing in a fiver a month though now that I can budget consistently. Who know... something might give and the OLGC just puts that money back into the community. Kind of like charity except you might win something. I sure could use a big payout. I'm so used to being poor $50,000 would keep me going for a loooong time. A million and... well I don't know what I'd do. lol

I've seen this exact guitar in every GC I've been in, in the last two years. Might want to try it out for yourself if you can get to a GC.

I have an Epiphone Sheraton II, Korean made. I absolutely love it. It's my go to guitar now.

My beloved Jap Strat, that many argue is as good or better than any American made Strat, just sits in the case for the most part now. I've had it for 30 years and played out with it every weekend for 16 years straight.

I have Shrek hands and the SII is extremely comfortable. It looks like the neck is the same, pickups too, although I'm not sold on the F-hole's not being there.

I'm working on a tune right now with it ... I'll PM you a link to it ... it's not done, but you'll get a good idea of the sound of it.

I haven't seen a "cheap" Epi Sheraton except for used. They are all $600 bucks plus the case ... that's not exactly cheap imo. I'd like to have one of the chrome plated models so I don't worry about rubbing the finish off. But they don't make them Lefty. :/ FWIW ... I'd never dish out the money they want for a Gibson equivalent. I've played both and the the difference does not equate monetarily.

i fought with the feedback problem for years with mine(a vox)which is simliar,i dropped the pick ups in a perafin/bee's wax mix to combat this and noticed a huge difference there are many you tube vids on how to do this,in my case one of my closest friends is a guitar tech for gibson.
he walked me through the whole process and even a few extra tricks.
he even winds his own pick ups on this old pick up winder.

@Bub... the lack of f-holes might be a bonus for my purposes. I tend to add quite a bit of sauce and although the kind of resonant sound is neat for distortion it does end up making it a little harder to get things ultra tight. The hollow body sans f-hole might be a good balance... and sadly I am no where near any well rounded music stores. Even if I was it'd be a massive ordeal hauling my sorry but out to one just to mess around with some guits. No fun for beeps.

@Chuck... My live days are pretty much over so the feedback issue isn't really a concern. This would be pretty much strictly for studio use. I've got my modded out Pacifica if I ever did end up pounding a stage again though which is pretty versatile. However the nice thing about the Lucille linked is I guess Mr King designed it without the f-holes to tame the feedback which is nice. If it produces his type of tone... well hey, it's friggen' BB King. Dude's sound is like butter. That's kind of the concern though. If it's true to the original or just another marketing gimmick. The stereo output though is definitely a major selling point for me. Generally can't go wrong with good chromes. Basically if it plays well and sounds like I'm imagining it to sound then I'd be a happy Beepmonster.  

I haven't seen this Lucille model but a friend sent me this video yesterday of a review of the ES-339 (with the f-holes). I'm seriously thinking about getting one myself sometime later this year. It looks like a very sweet little guitar.
