LOL Mike! Yeah, forgot about the stun gun!

Bub, yeah they are some bad dudes. Glad I know quite a few. LOL!!

Do you remember when Trooper Lamonaco was killed? We drove right through the scene on our way back from Christmas shopping about an hour after it happened. There must have been 100 cruisers there. A couple of wackjob tree huggers did it.

Ugggh....yeah, I remember that. :*( One of my buds was a trooper....we worked out at the same gym. It was his reason to live. He was on the force less than a year, made a traffic stop and was shot and killed. That was a tough one. This world man....I'll tell ya, if Jesus came down and offered me a jet plane to heaven, I seriously think I'd jump into His arms. It sure isn't the world I hoped it would be when I hit my 40's. So sad.

This was a terrible idea for a thread. This Night Fox dude seems to be stirring up trouble all over the place lately.

Let's talk about music stuff instead.
Sure. Start a thread and we'll join in.

I just finished the Groove3 X2 Explained vid. At first I thought it was gonna be a dud and just repeat a bunch of stuff I already knew but I wanted to trawl it for any little extra tricks I may have missed so far... but as the vids pressed on... holy crap did I ever learn a lot. Highly recommend that one. Still leaves out a lot but the way that guy did certain things was very eye opening.

Yeah there are some priceless bits of info in those vids, Beeps. They usually don't apply to me and how I use Sonar though. Some of them do, but for the most part, I'll start watching one and say "ah, I know I'll never use this" or "I don't have to do this style of music often". Most times, when you get a rap client or an R&B/hip hop client, they have all their beatz and grooves ready to go. It's rare I literally have to create stuff for them as they have it all mapped out and just drop their samples right into Sonar. It's good stuff to know though, that's for sure. But I think the Bakers need me to make rock/metal videos for them so we rockers aren't left out in the cold! Hahahaha!

I hear ya, Danny. A lot of it is probably throwaway or duplicate knowledge but I'll be focusing a lot on the creative end of things so the more tricks the better and being a total MIDI/soft synth n00b I need a good foundation if I'm ever gonna get taken seriously. Now that I'm done that series I'm looking around at what to snag next. I've only got another 3 weeks or so with this free pass so I have to choose wisely. I've done Mixing With X1 which was okay and X2 Explained. I might do the X1 Tips and Tricks becuase there's a bunch of stuff listed I really want to know how to do but I REALLY want to dig into the general mixing section of the site. I think I'd better make a list of the vids I'm interested in and prioritize them. Even slamming away at these non stop every day I don't think I'm gonna be able to get to everything I'm interested in. Like a kid in a candy store... lol. ;-)

Oh and there seems to be a Mixing Rock video in there which I definitely have to put on the list. Most of the dudes who'd put their work in my hands are all rockers so I can't ignore that stuff... not to mention that's obviously my personal bent even if I'm moving more towards a conglomerate of styles.

Ya.
I agree with McQ and James here.
That guy was just being a richard cranium.

It's people like him that give gun owners a bad name too.

Mike

Hey Mike, how long do you think that dude would have lasted with one of our NJ State Troopers? About 5 seconds maybe? Hahaha! Right or no rights, they woulda grabbed him and had him in the car in cuffs in seconds. That video would literally be 5 secs long and it would have been filming the concrete and you'd hear a car speed away while the dude was screaming "Jones vs. Smith...you cannot arrest me....." Car door closes. Hahahaha!

Considering that NJ is a gun free zone.... that's more of a rhetorical question since the simple act of having a gun is cause for arrest in NJ.

I used to live there. I was born and raised in NJ and back in 1972 I had to go get fingerprinted and do all the police dept's red tape process to apply for a permit to buy rifles and shotguns to simply purchase a Crossman 761 BB gun.

Forget getting a pistol permit to carry concealed, and do not dare to carry a gun open. Open carry is prohibited in ALL areas. No carry is allowed in vehicles either without a NJ carry permit (extremely difficult to get) or a purchaser ID card issued by NJ.

There is no right to self defense with a gun and no castle doctrine in NJ.... use a gun ... go to jail.

there is already an existing (so called) "assault weapons" ban and a hi-cap mag ban....

Traveling through the state carrying a weapon which is legal in your home state will get you some hard prison time if you happen to get stopped and searched. This has happened to more than one person.

NJ law enforcement is not friendly to guns.

I was born and raised in NJ. My dad and brother always had guns when I was growing up. It was never any big deal to get them, but I imagine it depended on where you lived and who you knew. And my brother is an officer in a small town, so that doesn't hurt I guess.

The problem isn't Jersey ... it's the trash passing through it on it's way East.

Maybe, after his thread got flushed down here, and he got pawned, hes trying to "fit in" to the CH?

He has a lot to learn, perhaps, a bit more lurking is in order? just saying.....

No, not hahaha.
Seriously!

No offence to any style of music. I find enjoyment in it all.
But I do feel like the art of actually recording instruments is fading in favor of samples, loops and sequencers.

Bring on some screaming whiplash.
