So, seems like we, the people, have voted for the best bass player of all time.

Many excelent folks but I was actually a litte surprised to see the ranking. And very surprised about the number one! But pretty cool if you're interested;)

Geddy who?

Wow, I hardly know most of those guys who didn't make the top 20... And even then - last time I heard about bass players, Billy Sheehan was telling some reporter that Steve Harris had a great left hand.

The guys from The Cure and Duran Duran in the top 20, really? 2 bands I love, especially The Cure but... Really???

Bapu was snubbed again.

I say the voting was rigged.

Hi,

You can always tell the amount/ability to judge a good player when the majority of them are from the top ten class of music fame/sales, and so few of them are actual bass players.

Missing in here and not represented, would be the likes of Eberhard Weber, David Darling, Charlie Haden, Mike Howlett, Dave Pegg (Fairport Convention) ... and so many others in Spain, Italy, Germany and France, alone ... that would put the rock'n'rollers to shame!

Oh well ... as usual, the most talented and knowledgable players remain hidden! But Gene Simmons as a good bass player before Bapu ... right!!!!! You got to be joking!

My favorite made #17 (Tony Levin) and, evidentally, they didn't go out of their comfort zones too far or they would have included Art Davis.

There's some good 'uns on that list for sure.

But a few missing, and a few who possibly don't deserve to be there on actual talent/ability as bassists.

They are the ones with vans and a PA. All others (sans PA and a van) are NOT bazz plyers.

Oh yeah, and rehearsal space.

BTW, "player" is an obtuse term when it comes to bass.
